Growing indoors during winter?

I have one of these on the exhaust duct that goes to my basement window. When your fan is on, it opens the vent, when your fan is off it closes automatically.

Just run exhaust into open air of room, away from the intake? Trying to figure this before I begin. Thank you
Thats what i do. Durring winter, why blow heated humid air out the window and draw in cold dry air?

Without a speed or other controller a 6" fan will probably take to much heat and humidity out of the tent.
An Inkbird humidity controller (IHC-200) runs my fan and a fogger/humidifier, the fan turns on at 73% and off at 72%, the fogger/humidifer comes on at 70.5% and of at 72%.

I couldn't see a way to make things do what I wanted without a controlled fan. The Inkbird for the fans will only do an on/off, so I decided to work with the AC Infinity fans with 'smart' controllers. I'm sure there are others out there but it allows not only the on/off but the newest controller (67) allows you to pick a 'rest' state that's not off so you can always have some fan happening then you can have it ratchet up or down settings according to a temperature trigger you set. If my fans crank the tent will be cooler than I want and I like the fan to find a balancing point that gives me the chance to use the lights to heat the tent but not overheat.

I send my exhaust out the window because I don’t want my house to smell. If I had another fan I could try setting one up as a scrubber but I don’t and kinda over buying crap.

Awesome product I need a couple of these! Thank you for posting it.

cheaper ones used for homes do same thing.
Yeah, I looked at those. I was concerned that they might not open unless the fan was pushing pretty good and I figured the ACI unit might be tuned to their fan outputs...I did a few tests with mine and with the fan at '1' the lowest setting, it opens just a little, enough to let the low flow out. And from there it does consistently open further and fuller. I figured at the 17$ they sell it for I could take the hit, vs. buying cheaper and maybe having to mess with a few of them.

Also, this one does have two rubber flanges on it for a tight seal, I kind of like that aspect too.

I hear you but looks to me like a dryer vent painted with a logo in it and cost more.

what did people use before aci? I’ve never looked into these vents before

dont think you can go wrong either way but for sure the aci should be best option if not looking at price since it was designed for it(?).

For me, I’m going without and will see how it goes. should be here if the power goes out at night so I think it will be fine.

if I wake up in the middle of the night cold and wet rui will hear about it

was gonna try and diy one on my exterior but couldn’t think of anything that lets me keep the screen on my window and then stopped caring.

it’s definitely heftier than the usual pressed tin stuff at the big box store. Again, I don’t really care what others use. I knew it would work well with my fans and I’ve liked the quality of the ACI stuff I have. I’m not one to fuss in the under 20$ zone.
