i wouldnt count on that being a pollen sac. i had a plant which looked like that and it turned out female. she is at 6 weeks and a few days now and has shown no male tendencies. ALL BITCH. but tia could still be a male, i just wouldnt worry based on that yet.

Fed them some more of the compost tea. They have really taken off. If they both turn out to be female I'm going to have to flower soon. I extended the dark period earlier by 1 hour. Since these photos I have also adjusted all of the tie downs and made a few more, moved the fan down below again, and moved the thermometers around to make room for the girls. They now have about 4 or 5 inches of room from the lights and about 6 inches of space below them. I still have plenty of room to spread out the branches once they grow some more.

man you have some pretty plants. have you seen any signs of sex?

dude, if they are both female, your are gonna need to flower last Wednesday!!!

you are saying you only have 11 inches of growing space, and your platns look about 9-12 inches tall (hard to tell with the containers and lst and all). you have heard that they can triple in size during flower right. so lets just say they're 9inches, and they double. you will have 2 inches of free space. you may wanna flower soon.

i think the longer veg may mean longer flower for some plants. i vegged mine longer than normal for a stealth grow, 7 weeks, and she has been in flower for 7 weeks tomorrow but she looks like she still needs 3-4, maybe even 5 weeks. she could just be a long flower strain and i am talking out my ass!!

No signs of sex on Juliana. Maybe I missed the window of preflowers, but I doubt it. Tia has 2 or 3 little, little balls at the 2 nodes right where I FIM'ed her. Other than that nothing. I kind of have a feeling that they are preflowers but someone said they had the same sort of thing and it turned out to be a female. I am not too worried about space. I still have room, but if Tia is a male then I have a whole bunch of room. I'm hoping to get a definitive sign in the next few days. Otherwise I will have to go ahead and flower. If worse comes to worse then I will just put another box below and cut through them both.

How are they looking so far as for male/female? And I thought they suppose to flower for 2 weeks b4 you can tell what type of sex? Are you flowering? If not you may be streesing for nothing. As for sexing, mine are older than yours and I cant tell if male/female yet . Well all 5 have female tendices but Im not getting happy till I flower and they will really show. Good luck bro

Well I wanted to post some pics but the forum is buggy right now. I have great news. Juliana is showing preflowers. She is definitely a girl! Still cant tell on Tia. The ball-like things are slightly bigger. They look like a tear drop on a stalk. Like a ball. I'm pretty sure Tia is actually a Tony. I'm going to let it go a few more days though. I can fill the box with Juliana, and if Tia turns out to be a girl I'll just be forced to finish that box I've been meaning to complete.

Oh and Don, they are still vegging. Around 5 weeks old they usually show preflowers so you can learn what they are. At the base of the nodes near the top of the plant you will see calyxes or male flowers. It will just be one per node usually. It isn't caused by stress or anything. It's natural.

like i mentioned early, the girl in my sig first had a ball looking thing start, then it formed into a tear dropped shapped thing, i think the pistils build in there until BOOM, bitch shows sex.

lets see some pics of that new box two! i do really like your barrel grow, or keg grow!! what was that before it became a grow tube anyhow? really good work so far and congratulations on the Juliana

Still not sure about the ball-looking things on Tia. They are shriveling up so either it is following what you said or it is ending the preflower stage.

The box I am using is made out of 2 beer tubs. Like the kind people get for cookouts. The new box is going to be made out of 2, 4 gal. rectangular rubbermaid storage tubs. It is the 4th box of this style and the largest so far. It will have 8 light sockets and be lined with milar. I am not sure how well the mylar will work but it will be a good experiment. I'm going to attach it with double sided tape while wearing gloves so I don't leave finger prints and smudges. When I get further along with it I'll post some pics.

I'll have some new photos up from earlier today also.

I have read rubbermaid tubs are hard to manage temps in, but I never. Used them to know for sure

Temps are a huge problem with the tubs. With the high powered fan I have it's not too bad though. I think it's 356 cfm. It's a touch on the loud side though. It has a nice steady hum. The temps in the box are very wild. It can swing 10 degrees in either direction depending on a number of things. The circulation fan inside changes the temp depending on where it is pointed. Rotating the top of the box will affect it also. Watering usually drops the temp by a couple degrees, and if I let them dry out fairly well the temp rises. The box tends to run 10-15 degrees above the house temp. I tried placing pantyhose over the intakes as a pest control and the restricted air flow made the temp jump up to 90. I've had really nice results with these boxes though. Buds tend to be light and dense without being compact. I got over 2 ounces off the plant in my profile pic. Although it took close to 6 months from seed. Everything I grow in these boxes tend to be very short. For some reason they will grow and produce nodes, but with very short spacing in between. I think it has something to do with the high temps in the box or the fact that they are so close to the CFL's that they have no tendencies to stretch.

I also realized that the 42w (150w equiv) from Wal-Mart is not 2700k. The ones from Lowe's said 2700k on the box and they have a dull yellow glow. The one from Wal-Mart which is a G.E. CFL has a more intense and whitish color. It is hard to look at while the others I can easily look at. So I am guessing the GE one is more like 3-5000k. Right now in the box I have 3 Sylvania 42w's 2700k, 1 GE 42w 3-5000k(?), and 1 GE 26w 6500k. It is probably that they have entered their next stage of development because they are stretching a bit more and have alternating nodes now. Unless it has something to do with switching to the lower kelvin bulbs a few weeks ago, but the change in growth is much more recent.

**Edit: The stretching is probably due to the longer dark period.

OK, I decided that I was going to go ahead and start flowering. If Tia ends up being a girl I will move both or one of them into the other box, and if she is a boy Juliana will stay in the barrel by herself. This will also give me the opportunity to start some new seeds.

I kind of screwed up earlier though. I turned off the light at about 9am and reset the timer and left for work. Unfortunately I got the am pm backwards and the lights had come back on at 10. I was planning to let it go for about 37 hour of total dark but that got screwed up. I turned the lights back out at about 8pm when I got home. So I figure I'll leave them off until 10pm tomorrow. Then the normal 12/12 schedule will start.

I'm going to brew up some compost tea too. I have some high phosphorous bat guano that should really do the trick.
