Grow light height mystery

This was a single plant scrog in 15gal promix. But before the side lights.

It was too thick in the scrog IMO.

I am now contemplating adding a UVB light. See what that dose.

This is an excellent approach. The light hits the plants at more angles since you have more points of emission. Add to that your getting great efficiency
Indeed. Plus less cooling required as individual chips don't get as hot and may last longer.
Modern DIY quantum boards or strip panels fully cash in on that and don't require bulky heat sinks anymore just a plate or some cheap U-profile.

I wonder which chips can boast the best efficiency : hardware upfront cost - ratio?
light spreads.

I would love to get a Par meter one day and actually fine tune the lighting
any luxmeter will do as well (given you give your plants the same spectrum at the canopy top.) Quantummeters are mostly necessary to figure out the true PPFD values.

Looking good - esp. the 45°, I'll keep you posted once mine is mounted

When you get closer you get plants you get less even light spreads.

That's what I did. Life has been easier since then. Apogee MQ-500. It's amazing how powerful the new LED's are. Been running my lights waaaay to close!

Lux meter did shit all except help me balance out my canopy. It underrepresented par by a long shot using all available conversions.
