New York (CNN) -- Plans to build a mosque two blocks away from ground zero have set off an emotional debate among area residents and relatives of victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

For those who don't know, Muslims have a long history of destroying important symbols of other cultures and building Mosques on top of them. This is meant to symbolize Islam's dominance over non-Muslims.
Examples of Mosques built on top of the ruins of Churches are found all over Spain and in other places.
In Afghanistan giant Buddha statues that were thousands of years old were destroyed by the Taliban because they were "an offense to Allah."

The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem is built on top of the Temple Mount - Judaism's most holy site. It is for Muslims an important symbol of their domination and subjugation of the Jews that they want more than anything to recapture. This, more than anything, explains the roots of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
There are many more examples of the practice of desecration of the important sites of other cultures and of the building of Mosques on these sites.
I'm just wondering if all the defenders of Islam are aware of this well documented practice and what they think of them building a Mosque so close to Ground Zero.
