Grandma’s preflower theory

So I’ve drunkenly rambled about this theory before but I sort of have proof I am right now. The preflowers are getting seeded way earlier in my crop than the rest of the flower. I feel like the female preflowers are meant to ensure early pollination and generic survival.

I believe the photo below prove my theory. The rest of the flower is just starting to throw pistils while the preflower calyx is fat with seed:

Here are seeds I’ve collected from preflower sites right at the juncture of the nodule, whereas no other part of the plant has seeds this mature:

I apologize for the dirty ass coffee table and mutt beneath it.

LOL you can see my three legged dog in the first photo if you look careful. Eventually you spot white trash “easter eggs” in all my pics.

Could it be a seed from a hermied plant by chance? or genetics you have already been running? That's the second time I seen that today alone! WOW lol The first one made me put the snapshots from an ancient post in my signature along with my own smart a$$ 2 cents.

It intrigues me tho on how the heck that happens. My mind has been blown all day.

:bigjoint: I know what your saying
Sorry, I have been breeding and growing for seed — probably should have mentioned that. I think the exciting implication is that people who want to breed but not go with a full seed crop can easily do it. Just start the male early, let him flower, cut him down before the female flowers. You can have your cake and it eat it too!

Have you been breeding and growing for seed using only pre flower pollinated seeds? That would be cool.
No I pollinate all the flower but I will try to prove my “have your cake and eat it too” theory in future grows. It would be great for people who want to breed but mostly want sinsemilla. On the other hand, I mostly wanted max seed on this run.

Is it possible that what we call “autos” are just cannabis plants that evolved so the preflowers became the main flowers?

Like if they grew in areas with a short cold season (where ruderalis is from) then nature would select for the plants that produce the most preflowers over time.

I think what we should look at is

When plants show their preflowers, and how it relates to their flowering finishing times.

How many days, how many nodes until preflower. Pick the plants which show soonest. Do this for many generations and see how it relates to flowering time.

a friend who taught me growing used to do this with his preflowers. as you say have your cake and eat it

Also can collect pollen from my selected males and put it in a container then just paint it onto a lower bud or 2 of selected females. Usually around 30 seeds in a tiny bud would probably have lollipopped off anyway. That's the easiest way I have found to do small scale breeding.

I find that it’s difficult to control the pollen. It literally just begins floating. Doesn’t bother me but for folks who worry about seeds, I could see it being problematic.
