Grams per Watt?

how does this gram per watt supposed to work because it doesn't make sense to me. Basically, the further away you have your lights from your plants the less light and lumes will reach your plant correct?

Okay lets say that I have a 1.5ft plant that's under a 400w HPS that's 1 foot away and a 300 T5HO 4 inches away, wouldn't my T5 be delivering more light to the bud sites. How can anyone say that you can theoretically expect a certain amount of yield per watt without taking into account or having a guideline for distance?

1/2 gram per watt average. yuge yields depend on strain. and conditions. at 1 foot you get most of your lumens 2 feet your getting 1/4 total lumens, and 3 feet is 1/8 of whatever lumens your bulb is. you get better yeilds if you can keep your light close but you cant keep em that close if you cant keep em cool. mine stay around 2ft no problem. to use a T5 to veg it would have to be using 3000k bulbs. i would suggest the 400 watt HPS within 1-2 ft. i run 2 600 and they run around 10-15 degrees more than the outside of tent

GPW=G/W
Example this was my first harvest 6oz(168 grams) under a 400 watt hps...
168G/400W=0.42GPW
Thats how you get GPW

Also keep ur light as close as you can without it burning ur plants back of ur hand is a good way too see if ur hands too hot then too hot for the plants...and techniques help...lst,fim,top and many other techniques can improve gpw also

Distance from plant does not matter - because it is a measure of yield to amount of light energy spent on flowering. do not try to over think it.

on the gram per watt discussion. I think it is note worthy to mention that any measure of efficiency is better that none at all.

Obviously if you are a large scale producer the g/w is not a good measure for you because of the scale. If you are growing pounds then you wouldn't measure them all by the g.

If you are growing a singular pound or so under one light and want to measure your efficiency between cycles this way then its worth a try. because you are going to do it anyway naturally since most people measure their yield (1000w or less light assumed)

People keep bashing it but i never hear a better way to measure my efficiency. I purpose someone offer a better measure then, for the small scale personal grower.

Note: I do not think it is a good way to compare tom, dick, and harry's grow to see who was more efficient. obvious all the variables for each are different. all the tricks and methods (light closeness) are the variables i speak of here. so you adjust your variables to get better yield from the same amount of light.

Hes not asking how you get gpw. Imo gpw is useless unless you actualy know your total draw of all your equipment runing. Lamps,ac,fans, filters, even timers. Think about it this way if your using a 1000 and 1800 watts of ac to grow 2lbs and your buddy is using just a 1k light and getting 15zips are you really the more efficent grower

I prefer yeild per m2

You use the amount of watts for.lights only brah dont say shit that aint true...your seeing how much bud you grow with said amount of light watts

The light is used as the point of measure because that is the specific energy draw the plant uses to grow. not the AC. you can grow with no AC but you cant grow with no light. capiche??

the only way to compare would be for you to grow in his setup and then compare.

This method is not for comparing different grow operations to one another. this system is designed to compare cycles in one operation.
