got a few questions.

Hello everyone. So after a long stressfull month of veg. And a emergency evacuation of my plants to a buddys house, I've finally got them home and ready to flower. I set everything up last night and was planning on using a 1000 watt hps on a light mover in a 4x8 grow tent. Well the light mover I have is not to reliable and stops working.g at random times. So my question is what should I expect from a single 1000 watt in the middle of the tent and if anyone can reccomend anything else other than buy a second light

Another question is my temps top out at 79 degrees. Should I be okay if it doesn't get above that temp or should I find a way to dropped it a couple degrees.

Thanks in advance for all the help

go with it man.......1 light should be fine, just group the plants as close as you can (while still giving them plenty of room to get light)

same as above
and 79 is perfectly fine. if you are truthfully worried about the temps then get a exhale co2 bag. with co2 plants can take temps into the 90's.

with a single light you can safley expect 1-1 1/2 per 1k when things are working good, how long is the veg on the plants? how many plants? im going to have to say i would get another light lol, i know you dont want to hear that but i have the same size tent with x2 1k's but i ran only one for a few days and one whole side of the tent was pretty dark, just my 2 cents :)

I've veged for about a month. But o veged under a t-8 floros so it was a slow veg. And I got nine plants going in a ebb and gro system.
I wish I could affored a second light to throw in there but the wifes definitly not gonna let that happen.

Bigz if you say 79 is good then I'm not worried about it at all.

Thanks for all the help guys.

With 9 plants vegged for 1 month I think you'll be fine. Try and set then up in a 4x4 footprint if you can. Especially early on in flower when they are still small. If anything you can get some 125w CFL's and hang them around the outside of your plant area. Also, rotating your plants around the area will help with even growth. Both around the area and in 180 degree turns in their buckets. Good luck man.

Plants are about 1.5 feet all and wide. I got 6 gdp and 3 afganny Goo. I had 6 of each but lost 3 Goo's due to a ph problem at the beginning. But from moving my entire grow tent system and everything and moving it back again things are looking good. I'll post pics when lights come on.

And about the light mover well it totally shit out on me. Man I was looking forward to seeing the diffrence between that and 2 1000s.

I think you would have been surprisingly disappointed with that light mover in flower. Not enough direct light for the 12 hours that the plants really need it. Plus with only 9 plants you don't even need the light mover. Would just be a waste of electricity. Rotate your plants once every 2-3 days and you would be doing a better job than that light mover.

Phillip you know, I was kinda of thinking that myself but I've only heard good things about light movers. But what you say makes sence to me. But I already have light issues with my plants being so wide. We'll just have to see how it goes

There are a bunch of threads in here with tips and tricks to using those systems to increase efficiency. Let me know if you are interested and I'll find some of them for you. Stuff about etting the buckets to drain properly and clearing the water out of the tubing. Really helps alot when you can keep your roots out of that stagnant water and when you can clear the water out of the tubing so that it doesn't heat up under your light and shock your plants when the flood cycle starts.

I would lollipop the plants if I were you. Will increase your yield up on the colas, give you better air movement over the hydroton, and allow you to get them a little closer. Maybe the bottom 30%. It's not gonna produce anything worthwhile for you anyway.

I've read the ebb and gro threads from beginning to end before buying this system. But I appriciate all your help. I've thought about lollipopping lst'ING and other training and pruning techniques but it makes me nervous as hell with this being my first ever grow. How would I go about lollipopping? Would lollipopping be my best bet at this time

Just mentioned the threads cause it doesn't look like you are doing anything to get heat away from your tubing. Looks like you actually have some empty buckets still hooked up to the system. This will raise reservoir temps. I'll leave it at that but if you aren't insulating you feeder lines and control bucket with foil tape or something else; if you aren't chilling your reservoir to 62-66 degrees; if you aren't tilting your grow sites toward the drains; if you aren't placinng your grow sites 1-2" above your control bucket; etc... then you are GREATLY increasing the chance of running into problems.

Lollipopping is easy. You are just cutting all growth off the main stem below a certain point. I would say the bottom 30% of your plant. Those sites aren't going to produce much of anything and as your plant get's bigger they will not be receiving light. All they will do is draw energy that should be going towards the top of your plant. I actually think lollipopping increases yields. Taking away 10 grams of popcorn buds at the bottom will add 15 grams to your big colas up top.

Res and controller bucket are outside of tent and stay between 64-70 degrees buckets are roughly a inch above the controller bucket. Those empty buckets were in there because I was trying to figure out the best way to space the buckets that are in use. I think I'm on the right path with everything.

plants look good, i think you will be good with only 9 under that light. i have done 9 in my system under 1k with good results.

Thanks Dr. I'm just gonna let it go and see how it turn out in the end. Hopefully I will come close to whatever results you got
