yes they emerge from soil in early spring. egg laying continues thru summer as new generations mature and they overwinter in cocoon. sometimes damage is under soil and they carry disease rot being one. mostly moth larvae or black fly larvae. glad that you have fixed it man with seaweed :d

I am about the furthest thing from being an expert on outdoor growing. I know nothing about this type of growing.

With that said, and I hope you respect candid comments......I've been following this grow from the start with pictures in my head of 13' plants covering the hillside.....heck, you've shown pics of your Maine grows with that size plants.....unless these plants start growing while being well into what appears to be flowering, they don't look like the trees I was expecting.

Was it your late start or something else that prevented these very healthy plants from reaching their height potential?
Having followed from the start then you should know his situation

Glad to have you in Cali, I grew up just down the hill from Sonora in the valley, about 45 min away. Great place to grow. Hows the ridge fire affecting your crop?
nope not bothering anything here ,just plenty of smoke but things are good it is nice here in cali after being at sea for 30 years commercial fishing i'd rather be a farmer than fisherman these days .

Nice change from the sea. I was in the Navy for 4.5 yrs stationed in Norfolk. Loved the east coast for the color in the trees and landscape, but I love the growing weather and coast her in Cali. Smoke in the valley has just been messing with my allergies, but a buddy of mine posted a pic of sonora about a week ago and damn it was smokey.
