Iv'e read and read and couldn't find my answer so here it goes, this is my first indoor grow, useually when growing outdoors I germinate with ''Jiffy pots'', this time I'm useing the ''paper towel method'' and I checked today and my seeds have cracked so i went ahead and put them in cups with the medium I have chosen,My question is this-At this point is it ok to go ahead and put them under the lights in the closet or leave them in the dark till they sprout? then put under lights as soon as you put them in the dirt? or does it even matter? Thanks in advanced.

normally i just put the lights over the plants right when i put them in the pot.and normally i let the root grow some instead of putting them in right when they crack open(hope this helps u!)

that was fast! and just what I needed to know marley thanks ,they have prolly 1/4 to 1/3 inch tails and they lights will keep them warm so I guess everything is going as planned, again thanks for the fast response.

Seedlings left in the dark will search for light and stretch.
Stretching is not really preferred.
Put the light on and keep it close as not to stretch the plants.
If you plan on using the 24 hour light method for vegging then turn on the light and thats it.

Here is a review for you.

If you have a shelf or a space in a room where it does get some sun light, that's good enough intill you see about a wks worth of growth.
don't store in total darkness, never a good idea.(cold soil isn't good)

your set up matters alot.
Like why turn on a 400 MH for a few cups of dirt?
