Germination problem

The problem being, my seeds aren't sprouting. :(

I tried the wet paper towel thing for a couple of days, nothing happened. So I figured they weren't getting enough water or it wasn't warm enough or something.

So I put them in a glass of water with some cucumber seeds (I grow other things besides weed), it's two days later, and still nothing. (my cucumber seeds sprouted after the first day)

Any ideas if it's a problem, or if cannabis seeds take longer to sprout that normal plant seeds?

I know WAY more about growing that germinating. :P

Any help would be great, thanks.

Hey man I had a lot of struggles germing when I first started so I practiced on bag seeds until I got good results. I put seeds on a wet paper towel on a saucer cover with another wet paper towel and put another saucer on top. I then tape around the saucer and set the whole thing inside a towel and set the towel on heating pad (there are mats for this but I use an old one from Wal-mart) wait 48 hours and then check most have popped by then if they havent I add a bit more water and wait and reseal and wait another 24, Hope it helps good luck

I've used countless different types of germination methods and from my own experience I recommend just putting the seeds into a shotglass 1/2 full with water then putting it on top of somewhere warm and dark. You can put it on top of your refrigerator (or cable box which I use) for heat and cover it with a non see-through cup. I always use tweezers to take out the seed and plant it as soon as I see the seed cracks. This is very important because you don't want to drown your seeds. -MK

best technique for myself 1st i get the seeds i want and put them in a matchbox with the bottom of the box covered with sandpaper, shake it. this scuffs the seeds and makes water intake easier, also get some superthrive it works great for germinating also keep in mind to germinate it will need moisture, darkness, and AIRFLOW OF SOME SORT. dont soak the towels just damp em every 6-8 hours and put em on a slanted area so water runs off, this also helps the root grow strait for easier planting, (only have experience with hydroponics, mostly rockwool)

what i did was just got 3 bag seed. got 3 paper towels, wet them with warm water. squeezed it out so it was damp. but 3 seeds in it, folder paper towel over and under, so it was a few layers thick, and then put it in a zip lock bag, and put the bag in a shoe box behind my door so it stayed dark... and in 5 days 1 seed sprouted so much that it was almost out of seed completely.. the other 2 didn't do anything yet, except 1 seed has a little crack in it

Alrighty, they may not be warm enough.

I've got them in my closet (my room is hot as hell, but my closet is cooler).

I'll put them somewhere warmer.

this is the first i've read for seed germination that mentions anything bout airflow - verry interesting indeed - i'm currently trialling about 6 different methods for seed germination with some rather old, but seemingly good condition seeds. no success yet after about 6 days but i'm sticking to it - time to try airflow!
