Gas Lantern Routine

Yes, GLR works but it’s not going to fix leaf discoloration or purple stems like someone claimed. Most outdoor guys do some form of it because it’s the most economical way to veg plants in big pots, just get some string lights and have them turn on in the middle of the night for an hour or two and your plants stay in veg as long as you want.

It's a good system, but I understand the hesitation to try something so radically different from the textbook ways of growing weed. I saw it as being risky, at first, too. But.....yeah.....no going back, now.

I'm still more of a Dr. Bruce Bugbee advocate when it comes to flower schedule, though. The next time I grow a long-flowering Sativa, I will probably try the Reduced Light Schedule technique. For now, my bushy Indicas are getting bombarded with as much light as I can give them!

I only claimed that from personal experience. The purple stems and leaf discolouration that everyone gets in when switching to LED for veg that everyone writes off to calmag went away from a longer dark period. If anyone’s experiencing the same symptoms I’d recommend giving it a try and check back in here.

Nice thread, willing to try the 12-1-12 veg and 9/15 on/off for flower. Will save my 1/4 of the costs which is worth it. Now all my energy would be for dehuey and canopy box fans, screw mold.

I guess lights dont have to be 100% intensity, maybe my weaker lights which will be stronger at some point. If all goes well I want bar lights box fans over head so can comfortable grow bigger plants.

I skimped light a lot in my days seems to be fine. The focus shifted to just making any type of harvest with small well opened up plants. Shouldnt need much light. When they do, all the more reason to consider this. With this Im spending 40 a month or 20 if I skimping light. So its saving me about 20$ a month which ever I do. Actually a bit more like 28$ a mo saved kinda still doing the math.

Most would disagree Id think but literally I get problems with more light. My MH ts1000 at full blast is the most mine can handle. I doubt I can do 25% or so on the fce3000 so just planning on spending more energy costs. I have bar lights Vipar with box fan over head its my best setup so far for powdery mildew but still a big plant.

This is really cool though Ive read a few times 12/12 being bs basically and I think Im ready to make the jump. Growing is expensive! Im most skeptical of the 12-1-12 veg light cycle but yall saying it works.. Ive never heard of that but I seen title of this thread few times.

I actually modified the schedule a little just bc in my mind I’ve never grown this strain and have two separate beans (spice girl Twenty20)
13 on 1.5 hrs in between. Prolly being over cautious but hey I went with my gut.

I was under impression you could do 9/15 from the start? I didnt realize its half hr per wk or two wks being a little less saved than I thought unless I did 9/15 from start. Was searching said just needs 9 hrs light at least to flower. Maybe took out of context? Some searches do that if you dont read the source actually saying more to it.

Still cool idea Ill do it still just to save the energy but its not as much as I thought, like 50$ per 10 wks not monthly idk what I was thinkin. Im just really high on really good stuff thats all lol.

There's many bigger operations running 6/18 for flower from start to finish, 12/5.5-1-5.5 in veg. That's what's needed according to some experts. Most other commercial flowering and producing plants grows with the same cycle.

You save 33% in veg and 50% in flower with that schedule. Then you also have to take shorter turnover rate into consideration which leaves you with even higher numbers for a complete cycle.

Veg tent on GLR for few days. Started taking one hr off 12/12 each week as of a week ago just about. I just remembered people would say less light is counter productive that veggies in Alaska on 24/0 grow bigger. Any explanation?

My current guess is the build up of hormones in veg and the plant in flower later on thinking days are getting shorter. Came up when I wanted to make a auto finish faster on 12/12 than 24/0 but ya.

My flowers were on 12/12 half way through flower but found this so just now working towards 9/15. Will start off that way though. Unless its better to trigger gradual. light change from start to last wk flower?

Lol I didnt know this was in advanced section. Cool I guess Im on that next level shit. My veggies gnat proofed. On GLR savin money but damnit I need to heat it up. 63F -65F. Kinda defeats purpose unless I find something like 50w and or a fancy ventilation system or rigged up lung room. Not the topic though or maybe sorta.
