Yes for sure. Been a great summer... however its turning cold fast... way faster then usual. Mid 50s this week as highs for a few days with high 30s as a low.
Mid 60s the rest of the week. Maybe it's just a cold snap but I hope it doesn't last.
I hear you. Upper 40's last night. I feel the payment for our freakishly hot and sunny summer is coming due. Glad I got a greenhouse and 3 new oil radiators to heat it. Might have to pull another 20 amp circuit to the house to safely heat it. We got some monsters while it was good. Wish you and all the best of luck finishing this year. It's a full time battle here. Peace.

Cool Ladybug larvae shot! Funny, I googled what they looked like earlier this summer so I could cross them off my hit list during my daily inspections. Pretty hard to mistake them for anything else.

How late do you think your plants will go this year? I know you’ve stretched it well into October before.....

Yup once you see them... you kinda never forget what they look like! Weird to think those scary things turn into such cute little bugs lol.

Oh I will be well into oct. Probably the end. Just a couple will be down in the beginning of it but most mid to end. Hopefully not into november but we will see lol. Alls I can do is just keep doing what I'm and hope the hard frosts stay at bay. This will be the 3rd official night of frosts. Should go back to normalish weather soon

Frost already? What temps you at? Crazy went from summer to fall at what feels like a flip of a switch. Been nice sleeping weather though.

woke up this morning and we got some 5°C going on here, they are not calling for frost here for a couple weeks. Corn will probably get to maturity unlike last year

Oh they are just amazing little critters! Oh how I love them sooo much! One of my plants were just infested over night with aphids and I had already released lady bugs so then I releases the lacewings and then a week later there was an explosion of the lady bug larve. It is hard to spot an aphid ANYWHERE now!
Yeah, I have both ladybugs and lacewings in the hoop house. I released them at the first sign of the aphid menace invading my peppers and eggplant. And it did take a bit of time but now the aphids are at bay and the ladybugs and larvae are everywhere! And more eggs too. The lacewings aren't as prevalent but I'm sure it probably is due to the ladybugs larvae competing with and eating them. Either way I have them both in there working for me and love them for it!

Oh yeah... you got to have ripe corn lol
yeah i hope my big bud finishes too, it's on track to be ready mid October so i might have to cover it some nights

and yes you don't wanna miss 4500 tons of 400$ per ton organic corn.... last year was catastrophic we had to plow down like 100 acres and the rest we were able to salvage but it was very bad quality

Minus expenses, including what you value your time at... But damn, it adds up (so does that equipment!)
Farming is a damn hard job, I commend anyone able to do it... makes my tiny crops look like child's play.

Theres some cool youtube farmers on larger scale that Ive seen I forget the names but its really interesting to see it from the perspective of one family that runs a large operation.

Driving tractor during harvest used to be one of my favorite jobs. Just listening to music reading a book and waiting for the combine to fill up. Driving the John Deer 8330 I operated was like playing a video game. And it was awesome.
It was like a slow motion road trip every day. Just watching the deer fox and coyotes trotting away from us into the sunset.
