forecast calls for broken branches

i used one of the wire tomato things. it's round has a couple rows of heavy wire. you put it around the plant when it's small and the branches grow thru it and the wires support them. next year i'm using those everywhere. big ones.

I actually used those things when they were babys (about 3 footers) to keep the dogs from fucking with them and ended up pulling them out when I thought they were safe.

Damn, I wish I would have left them in. It didnt even cross my mind to use them to help branches stay up till you just mentioned it fdd. Next grow.:hump:

a lil rain and not 35mph but close to it on this side,in the morning all was well.
hopefully the winds will change,and no more 'broken branches'for ya fdd.
right now the sun has just showed his face...yes,finally

In general, windbreaks are effective up to a distance of 10 times the height of the windbreak. So for example a windbreak 1 m (3 foot) high will provide protection from wind for a distance of up to 10 m (30 foot) from the windbreak. This gives plenty of scope to place the windbreaks far enough away from a bush so that soil fertility is not effected but wind protection is effective.
With careful tying off just thought it might help:blsmoke:

i have fences and sheds on 3 sides. the problem is my trees are 7 feet tall. the wind blows down on them.:evil:
 
Ye i seen how big your bushes are in some of your pics im sure its a real problem because of their size and weight just thought that maybe it would be a cheap way to provide a bit of extra protection:blsmoke:

I also had an idea that is pretty extreme but it may work.
If you can imagine the design of a skateboard ramp you could build that kind of structure cheaply out of plywood,if you built 4 of them and placed them around your plant and weighted the bottoms with sandbags the wind would be redirected up the concaved shape :blsmoke:
