Forced Flowering

Ok I have a few questions so i'll just ask them one at a time. My situation is I am leaving mid-august to go back to school, so I am going to make my plant flower sooner. The plant is an outdoor plant as well, due to space issues. What I plan on doing is moving the plants inside-outside on a shortened light schedule for a couple weeks to get them flowering. This is easier for me then just trying to cover the plants up ouside as I can just keep them in a large pot. My question is what if I shorten the cycle to something below 12/12. This schedule does not work well with my job, I was wondering if making it say 8 hours of sunlight and 16 dark would induce flowering and have the plant still flower at a decent rate. I know I may be sacrificing optimal bud growth, but I have to if I want any of the plant. Thanks for your help.

should be fine just smaller buds. Once you get them into flowering you can leave them out longer a couple of days a week. They will stay in flower mode.

I wouldn't recommend more then 12 hours of light during flowering, don't know why you would say you can give them more light a few times a week. If they get more light they will start to re-veg.

i heard that once flowering goes on for a couple weeks then it will pretty much stay in that cycle, but i'm not sure. Thanks for the help.

yes you can use less day light , if you go 8/16 (8 light and 16 dark) the plants will give you a smaller yield but it will acttually help you with your time problem, because it will trim a week or two off the total flowering time....but remember it will definately effect your yield in comparison to using 12/12....you could also go 10/14.....good luck

ok cool. Also if I flower them for like 2 weeks, can i just let them chill outside under normal light after that, or will they start to veg again?

that is not the way you want to do it, you want to keep the 12/12 or 10/14 or 8/16 flowering photo period untill the buds are ripe, you can be a little less strict after 2 weeks but you still want to do the best that you can with your schedule to keep that photo period going untill harvest...and the first 2 weeks it is critical it needs to be the same every day...hope this helps.....
