Flushing

How do you know when it's time to start flushing? Is it based on how long the seed company says the bud takes? If I want to harvest with all cloudy trichs, start flushing when I begin seeing them?

i do mine for 5-7 days before chop and the smoke is just fine:) but i dont hammer them with nutrients as much

what nutes do you use? you can usually track down a site with info on dosage, flushing etc

generally 2 weeks before they are done.

if you want all cloudy.. get a scope
exactly what this person said. at least that seems to be the most generally accepted way. lot of people have their own special way. if like you said you want all cloudy trich, then i would start flushing when about 80% are cloudy. then in about 2 weeks it should be pretty close to mostly cloudy, maybe a bit amber.

also i find a decent digital camera to be better than a scope. doesnt have to be that expensive of one, i think mines like 8 megapixels 3x zoom. put it in whatever mode is used for close up pics. mine has a flower setting. keep everything as steady as possible and use the flash. put the pic on your computer and you can really see all over good. i take many pics myself and check them all out zooming in all over the buds on all the pics. just a bit easier to manage than a scope. seems to cover more area also.

you will run into some ppl that dont flush but i personally like to. i also vape a lot and it seems like i can taste chemical a bit if it wasnt flushed properly. some ppl say it could be because the feeding was too strong at some point but i've even tasted chemical in stuff that was fed real light and not flushed. smoking i dont so much notice though.

It all depends......You can go by the seed companies estimated date as long as you have had nice growth through the flowering stage. but if the plant has become stressed or could use more food or maybe doesn't have great light can go a week to 3 weeks longer in my experience. The best way is to take out a scope....atleast 40x for me. Make sure to flush at around %80 milky trihs or sooner. I personally do at about %80 because I do a short flush about five days.....but basically beer316 is totally right

I wouldn't worry about flushing. But when you see you are a week or a bit less away from picking, just use water, no nutes

alot of the time I will pour water through it until it becomes clear the first time to get out any build up and salts, plus add some kind of sugar to water. then just water like normal.....it will start to turn yellow there's really no reason to have to put so much water every day through pot. just let go clear so all the nutes are gone from soil

im a firm believer in flushing and am not sure how anybody with grow exp can not tell the difference. sorry, but just adding water without proper run off is not flushing. its just adding water to the exsisting nutes in the soil which in terms is just deluting the nutes that are already present. if u light up a bowl and enjoy the SNAP,CRACKLE and POP sounds it makes followed by a harsh exhale, then by all means....dont flush.

whether you need to flush an insane amount of water or not is really dictated by the nutrients you use. some nutes get flushed right out of the soil and other stick in. the plant it's self can store different nutes longer than others and some have alot of taste in bud and others don't. my trick is to flush the hell out of it the first day and then put a good amout every day after. I do this with no snap, crackle, or pop it comes out clean and smooth. this will not work with every growing method depending on the nutes and medium. a side by side tase test (which i have done) between putting 10 gallons of water through a 5 gallon pot every day for a week, and putting 10 gallon the first day and two gallons for the next four days, where no difference. but i use high dollar organic stuff and make all my own soil.

flushing is a forum myth
i have heard so many folk will say, when describing weed they think is not that great "this weed would of been so much better if the grower knew how to flush their plants"
they will not mention strain, phenotype or weather it is dried or cured correctly
i have even heard some dude say the bud from unflushed plants turned his bong water yellow
all this misinformation about flushing it is just plain ridiculous .. just goes to prove a little knowledge can do more harm than good

flushing i think is more of a personality trait LOL is just one of these things finicky folk like to do, it makes them feel better about the wholesomeness of their weed
who knows, perhaps they chant spells and do a flushing dance too, each to their own

enjoy your weed the way YOU like it :)
