Flowering with Cree bulbs

OKOKOK this conversation has got away from my ass. So can someone do a recap for all the burnouts in the house? Please :)? So is the story so far now, CREE now sells 2 different types of A19 CREE Bulbs, an XT and XB based model, and this completely separate from the A19 CREE TW Bulb they just released with the 93 CRI and I believe XB diodes and larger column, right? And are these XB model CREE Bulbs the same design as the BR30 side-ejecting,(bad description), XB diodes or in the XP package like the XT-E? And are the XB based using the larger cooling column, or the original's column? And why didn't CREE switching diodes, a pretty big deal from a design/production standpoint I think, make it into the trades? I'm so dazed and confused :(. I emailed CREE again but haven't heard anything, but I'm still amazed they are swapping out the XT-Es just like that. It's a very tightly designed platform from a production standpoint. Shit like no solder connections, different driver design, etc. or maybe that was the design all along to just keep evolving and updating the platform/package by upgrading the LED+driver.

Fuckin LEDs. Ya can't keep up with this shit. You go to sleep and everything changes. Anyone?

Okay so does anyone know how to tell what diodes you have with out taking off the diffuser? Some one said earlier to check the serial number but what about the serial number should inform me of the diodes used? I am so annoyed i was so sure i had the right shit and now i have no idea 2 weeks after spending $104 on bulbs > <, thanks to who ever brought this info to the table...

I haven't received the email yet. I will call again tomorrow. The girl I talked to gave me her direct number. She told me to check the serial number but couldn't be specific. The info she had didn't say enough and she didn't want to give me wrong info. So she said she will email it to me. She even said said she wanted to know more for herself. They expect to get more calls and emails about it. The customer service phone number is in the contact link on cree.com.

I'm only guessing but if you are in an area with utility rebates you more than likely have the x-be's..

What spectrum did you buy 5000k or 2700k?

I bought the 2700k bulbs, looking at the bulb from the out side it looks like its the xtes because it looks like the light emitting portion of the bulbs is pretty thick and arranged about the same as the xtes.

Well you could wait for hyroots email or pop one of them open. You can always exchange/return it to HD. Just tell them it got hot and the top popped when unscrewing. Sucks they switched things up like that.

That's what I'm wondering too. I have 2 weeks of veg left & if the new Crees won't cut it for bloom or you need twice the number of old, I'm ordering a Blackstar UFO unless there's another off the shelf LED at HD or Lowes.

Exactly. Every aspect of led is being redesigned simpler and better, but what Apache, A51, CLWs... offer for growers is pretty f'n cool for growing meds.

And while better is inevitable, their current offerings will more than pay for themselves, but can be made cheaper by DIYers if/when you know what you're doing and have a good understanding of what mj wants/needs

A51 told me they're releasing new models early next year...right after I just bought 2 panels. They're out of the all white gurls till December. Might hop on a couple of those and Ganja Queen.

So XB-E (new model) is superior for 5000k and XT-E (old model) for 2700k? How much worse would it be to use the new model for warm light? Was all excited reading this thread and ready to buy bulbs tomorrow...now I'm not sure if it'd be better to wait :?

Not muchh worse. theres just more yellow and green in the x-be 2700k..... go to cree site and check the data sheet pdf's for the spectrum charts..
