Flowering with Cree bulbs

Fingers crossed but I am going to HomeDepot now to hopefully scoop up the Phillips 10.5watters.
If you can, get the Philips 11 watt ones that say 830 lumens, those are the best by far. They've gone cheap on the newer ones, like Cree.

hey bondo

check these out:

These I think are what you were referring to:

I still like these because of my cab dimensions. I think they are great so far.

Sorry Captain: your hijacked for bit, but its all for love and greenery.

Might setup them up like this: according to the Capt'n!

I won't argue...I can only show you my results. One impression is that the SW's have a heavy dutier heatsink, does it do it's job better? Don't know. I am flowering Cab1: a small cab with 4x Cree SW's and 1x Phillips 3k in a 1.5sq.ft. 3.5cu ft mini fridge., Day 20 and going great, click my sig if interested.

Cab 2: is the cab above. I have been vegging 3 plants under 1x Cree WW 3x Cree SW's and 26W 5K CFL for about 3.5 weeks [64 watts]. 1.5 weeks ago transplanted from 2 quarts to 1.5 and 2 gallon pots [Way too big....my mulligan fukc-up.] I am amazed at the results, I need to flower, but can't afford new bulbs, lol!

Yep those are the ones I'm talking about. The reason I like those the best is the phosphor can be removed to make it a blue light for veg, and replaced for flower. And they have the luxeon blue led's. The other bulb you're talking about is the only 10-11 watt bulb I haven't torn down, but those look great for flower too on paper. I personally wouldn't set up those philips on the 4 bulb thing, as they aren't side firing like the crees. The led's point straight down and hit the difuser.

^ did you look at the specs of both Phillips bulbs? THose 11w versions aren't as effecient as the smaller 10.5w bulbs per their testing and in my area the 11w versions are more than double the cheaper 10.5w. Plus the 10.5's seem to have more penetration in a smaller area, which might suit me better.

Well I bought some of the newer 11w bulbs that look identical to the earlier 11w bulb, and the newer ones say higher lumens. They say 880 as opposed to 830. Inside of those were completely different LED's. Then I did a side by side comparison, and the 830 was brighter and the colors it produced looked so much better. To me the older luxeon was a much better bulb. But for plants who knows. I just like the fact I can turn them into royal blues for vegging, which worked really well for me in actual growing. And the heat difference was drastic. The 830 I could grasp in my hand after being on for awhile and it's just pretty warm. The 880 bulb is scalding hot, touching it for a second burns the hell out of you.

COol photo's interesting on the bulb point of view. My single 10.5w Phillips I have stays even cooler than the Cree's, which seem impressive, everywhere I read seems to state the opposite.

The phosphor cap over the blue is another reason for me getting more of the 10.5watters, I will end up tearing a couple apart to check em out!

Thanks for the replies bondo!

Yeah I'd be interested to see what's inside of those 10.5 round ones.

Pretty sure they are the Luxeon Tx's. I lose track but somebody [maybe it was hyroot?] tore it open and had a phosphor nipple cap over the Royal Blue Luxeon's, 9 0r 10 of them [in a slight merkaba too!]. [I have a pdf of a partial datasheet, but I can't attach like @ the farm]

The newer versions might not have the phosphor nipple cap and the diodes themselves maybe coated for 3000k emittance? I will see what I can dig up.....fuck can't believe I misplaced some of that info.

That was me, and that's the one I tore open, the 830 lumen ones. I'm pretty sure the 10.5's don't have those luxeon led's.

Some beech. I thought it was a whole nother forum altogether, shucks.

Did you send me the pdf of the Luxeon TM's? I am still under the impression that there are 1w Luxeons in those smaller versions. I have that shit some where.....[keeps looking.....:eyesmoke:]
