is it possible that strains have a shorter flowering cycle than they used to? if yes, which factors are responsible for that?

Is this a general question about various strains or about a plant you have been growing for years?

Because breeding will effect flowering times, and the market has been getting more and more flooded with hybrids. Its also flooded with breeders that make sure to list the fastest possible flowering times, not always realistic average times for the strain. As a general rule, I take breeders flowering times with a huge grain of salt and typically expect plants to need 2ish weeks longer then most breeders will list. Even among a batch of seeds, you can get a variety of phenotypes that might all have different flowering times.

Lordhooha is correct about environment hugely effecting the flowering duration of a plant. Less then ideal conditions can absolutely slow down growth and maturation.
