I grow mainly diesel / chem / Thai strains from seed and clone sometimes. And I try new plants in my rotation all the time.

I cant find the Koffee Kush pics just now, but this is a pic of the ttNL#6 x Appy. After spending some time looking through photos (I rarely take notes) I agree that it can be both the result of certain phenos or not having things dialed in 100%. When I ran this one, it was the first run in a newly built bloom rm that hadn't really been tweaked yet. I can def.see some similarities in the genetics though.

I grew this Critical Mass for about 5 years. I no longer have her but just in her last year with me, she did this.

Wanted to ask a question on this old thread since it is related to the topic.
I grew the 12+ type blades in 3 gallon pots of ffof using just water. This is one of the pictures from last year.
Being that ffof has so much N. Would you think the ffof soil is hot enough to cause it to happen with water only? I'm guessing yes but IDK.
The 1st picture is of the plant I'm talking about.
The 2nd picture is from a previous grow. I don't see high N in the 2nd picture however that does not mean I did not add something to it that may have caused it at an earlier stage.
I'm interested in following trends as to when this happens.
Trying to figure out when it is genetic and when it is caused by other factors.
I was also getting the occasional bud in leaf during these grows.
I'm adding a 3rd picture, a different expression I am seeing this grow. It is in a unique soil. Harvested small plants and reused 3 gallon pots no till style. Added the seedlings and added amendments to the top soil. For the most part this soil has been low on N from the start and this mutation showed up in the 3rd picture.

That’s probably why I can’t see pics people comment about sometimes. You may be copying and pasting in an unsupported by Mac format. But the website converts universally.

I guess it’s just a genetic thing with those plants.
When I said too much nitrogen I meant during peak bloom and my breeder was saying specific to the Thai side.
He also said it could just be a phenotype but when I learned to taper fertilizer off it went away. And since I feed less in general and closer to the plants actual needs I have not seen the stacked leaves from the same seeds I was growing before when they had 13 leaves and buds on fan leaves.
And I have a plant with burned tips in just ocean forest and perlite and only well water so far but I over heated my temp in the tent for a day and didn’t catch it for at least 8 hours.
So I blame excessive transpiration and myself rather than the soil.
The most I have seen nitrogen related in ocean forest with 20% added large perlite is a twisted leaf or two on a young plant. It always just works itself out.
I do think it holds water real and is easy to overwater. I always scratch up the surface to stop the dense hard surface from forming. Seems to help keep the wet dry cycle consistent.

If I run the same seeds again, instead of vegging to 18" next grow I'm vegging to 24" in containers that will have new ffof in them with 10% added perlite. Hoping the soil won't be as hot when I switch to flower, plus I want to see how they develop compared to vegging to 18". I also use a fork to loosen up the top soil. Especially after adding worm castings or gypsum. When I add castings I like to mix it with perlite.
