First timer with questions

Starting my first grow this week. Been reading my ass off the past month , but I still have some questions I can't seem to get solid answers for. I'm running 600w Ushio opti blue MH (veg) and opti red HPS (flower) in a 3x3 Gorilla tent with an AC hood and 400 cfm ventilation. Going to be doing some Heavyweight Fruit Punch in soil, but I'm stuck trying to figure out the number of plants and pot size for this size tent. Topping and FIM'ing are options, but not a necessity. Any help is appreciated!

Just a suggestion but first go around maybe try 4 in that space.....get a feel of how big the plants will get (veg/flower). With training you can easily fill that tent with 4 plants. I like to go from solo cup to 1 or 2 gallon pots and transplant again into 5 gallon pots about 7-10 days before I put them into flowering. If you keep them smaller you could do 6 in 3 gallon pots as well. Which will yield more really depends on how you grow, train. Longer veg typically results in bigger plants that yield more but more time spent. I would recommend topping and/or fim'ing for sure.

I was thinking the 4 route, but pot size at 4 is still a question. Was thinking 3 or 5 gallon. I was going to go solo cup, 1 gallon, then to final pot. I need the grow to be finished by early July at the latest if at all possible. Veg 'till 16-18 inches, then flower was what I was hoping thinking.

Personally I like bigger 5 gallon.....just easier with watering less often, feeding less often, etc. I like the fabric smartpots too. Your pushing it with the time frame.....It can take a couple months to get your plant from seed to that height and then another couple months to flower. The breeder says 8 weeks but that is mostly sativa so it may take longer. I typically find mine run a couple weeks over what they tell you. You may get more stretch too, not familiar with strain. But you better get those seeds going ASAP to make your date, it is a bummer if you end up cutting down before they are ready.

Yeah I know the time frame is super close. I won't harvest early, only trying to stay optimistic :). I'm more concerned with a quality grow than the time frame. Family will be in town the 3rd week of July so that is the reason, but not a worry. I am hoping for some product testing when they get here. I should have seeds popped by the end of the weekend hopefully. I like your take on less watering and feeding with larger pots. I've read a little about the smart pots, but not a lot. Well, I'm still waiting for a few more supplies to be delivered, and a run to Lowes and the local hydro shop for some odds and ends. I'll do a small journal once started. Thanks for the replies rwbrock.

Early July? we'll you'll have April , May and June and a couple weeks left in March. Iam running HWFP right now ... started mid Jan so Iam at 2 months and been flowering for about a month and buds are fatting up... Should be ready end of April for sure ... so that will be 3 1/2 months. You should be right on target.

Thanks for the heads up Lemon. I'm currently 13 days from germination on mine now. What kind of set up are you running, how long did you veg, and what was the height when you flipped for flower?
