First timer looking for advice

Hey everyone ,
New to this site but, been reading thread for a while now. I have a couple questions that never seem to be answered with 100% accuracy (always mixed answered)
First a little about what I got going!

-I have 2 mid sized beauties!(Black Buddha strain 9-10 weeks flower time)
One btw 15-16" the other 17-19" tall (alittle small i know but remember Its my first time and didnt really know anything at first so decided to be cautious and kept smaller then obviously I've learned has time progressed )
- Real cheap setup originally and upgraded as time went on
-Currently tented with a 400w hps w cool tube
-Been kinda low humidity through out flowering at highest maybe 35% and lowest 16%
-Been flowering for 52 days (since 12/12 flip) around 10 days later both had pistils showing!


With that said my first question!!

1st - When do you start counting the photoperiod time when flowering at first signs of pistils or at 12/12 switch? (I kno I'm sick of that question too!)
And
2nd - How far along do y'all think my babies are and still neee!? (at end of 6th week of flowering tomorrow" if counting from 10 days out from 12/12 flip when both had pistils showing- at end of 7th week if counting first week as 10 days lol)
And finally
3rd - There still not alot of actual bud growth yet just alot of suger leaves so I guess the question is should I even expect more bud growth or what?

Hmmm. Hard to see the hairs - are they browning and receeding? And did you ever notice them fatten up a bit?

From the first pic, it looks pretty close to me, 2 weeks as a guess. But she is sparce so I think your yield isn't going to be too hot.

On question 1 - there is no answer and those times are estimates.
question 2 - 2 weeks or so my guess
question 3 - sorry. Any yield is a success on first grow!

Only thing I'd say besides what @GrowinDad answered is for 1. Just pick a date, like I use the day I flip them as my count. This is really only for your benefit/reference so you know approx. how long your strains/phenos will take to finish. More so for clones than seed grows as seeds can vary widely, even same strains. Later, if you're running multiple clones/strains in a perpetual setup you can use that knowledge to time your perpetual grows and even group multiple strains together that finish around the same time. Other than that there's really no benefit, when doing seeds you could run a 10 pack and get 4 or 5 different finish times with different phenos.

It really doesnt matter when you start counting because the plant doesnt care how you time it. It's going to do its thing anyway. Breeders estimates are usually over optimistic anyway so in the end, its the plant itself that will tell you where its at, and when it's done. Sure you can use weeks after the flip as a guideline but thats about it.
2- around 2 weeks give or take
3- Not much for yield. They might add a little more bulk yet but not likely much. As someone said, for a first grow thats ok. Ideally you want to get quality down at first and then with experience your yields will start to increase.

Yes I seen them fatten up a little the last week or 2 but as far as the white pistils , some started turning brownish a few weeks back but I read up and I'm pretty sure that was due to low humidity n poor air flow but I corrected that and haven't seen to much more browning since if any! Maybe 20% brown hairs still a lot of white ones left (but the brown ones are curled and not pointed out

depends on the temp as to whether it is a potential problem or not

temp & humidity share a relationship known as the heat index

low humidity can also cause more trics

I'm more curious as to why the nute guy thinks this ?

Oo I see, well heat stays btw 75°-85° (90 once on a hot day) with the lights on and with them off, the lowest was 59°

Please don't get me wrong here, I'm not a hater or a troll, that said,,,

I was hoping you had some science since you make/sell nutes ? But your "Best Growth" statement as I read it would be more about higher yields which I know is most growers thing so no issue. If I were to say something similar my phrasing would " Best Smoke" so to the OP I will say if you could manage to get your ambient temp to 72 with that 35% humidity, your smoke will be better

In our experience....better growth, bigger yields. We've had very high resin production out of 55-60% RH as well.


But again, this is advice from our experience. What you choose to do is your choice :)
