As for the smoke report, I feel like I can offically give it now that the cure has mellowed out the harsh-ness and I can really enjoy it. I cut my smoke up with scissors. Then, I load individual hits into a 1 foot tall bong (snappers, we call them). Once you take in the hit, the effect is pretty much immediate. You can feel the expansion in your lungs, along with a mild short of burning. You guys know what I mean. I like to hold my hits in for just a bit. As I do, the expansion continues fully until I decide to exhale. The taste leaves a lot to be desired, especially because I am partial to yummy MJ, and have been spoiled by the great tasting (although EXPENSIVE) $50 an 8th hydro I am used to.
After taking one hit, I can feel a head change/slight stone. After 3-4 bong rips, I have an elephant sitting on my prefrontal lobe!!
Seriously though, a VERY STONY strain. Couchlock for sure. My girlfriend absolutely loves it. She has intense cramps during her period and she usually needs to take ibuprofen. However, she says she this stuff works better for the pain! Which delights me, because it just goes to show how responsible, tax-paying, productive members of society can truely benefit from this PLANT, that modern man has somehow been stupid enough to allow the persecution of!!

Yeah I think I have enough to last me until I harvest #3 and #4. I am sure, actually. They won't yield much though. But a "z" will serve my purposes for two weeks, so I have some time. The first generation barbs are almost a week into flower. I expect they will go for 10-13 weeks. I am gonna let them take as long as they need. I have three females for sure already Wink!! Two males though...Im gonna have a month and a half gap where i need to keep buying but soon enough i will be on the + side of the weed game

curing !first week is very important to check them at least twice a day
if they are damp leave jar open for a few hours .... take em out move em around on a plate and if they still feel damp leave them on the plate for a couple hours and put em back in when its crisp on the out side...
Repeat ! until everytime you open the jar they feel a little crisp on the outside.... then you can leave it closed for the whole day and check in morning ....see how they are
if they seem to be geting dryer then you can leave the jar closed for 2 days and see if that brings back any moisture and then check daily again if it does ...
if this makes any sense to you .... awesome !
its kinda done by feel and just checking the jars alot the first week... then after the second week its like once a day or every other.... and then after 3-4 weeks you close to the point where you can leave em closed.
i havent really made it that far with mine .... except i did have some from my first havest that was closed for about 3 weeks ... it was fluffy so it was VERY dry you could make powder easily ..
but you basically cure as long as you can ... id think a month would be great
but there is people who do it for 3-6
i just cure it as long as i can ..... before i smoke it all ...... which gets easier if you have more
...... smoking this blueberry i cured for about 2 weeks now ... and it is quite a bit better . i really can tell a difference !

Well thanks for the tips brother. I started out by letting them air out for 15-20 minutes twice a day. They are TOTALLY dry now though, when I check them there is NO moisture present really. They aren't dusty, but dry for sure. So, I have started letting them air out for about 45 minutes in the dark once per day around noon. So far, no issues to report, so I might try letting them sit for two days after I let them air out for 45 minutes again tomorrow! After just a few days of curing, I tried another nug, VERY SMOOTH!!! Still not a great awesome taste though....I guess that's all about resin production though. I think I have learned a lot though, and I think the barb is a better strain, so I am hopefully for better tasting buds in the future!!
Thanks Wink!! I am glad you think I trimmed them well, I stayed up till 5 a.m.!!! It took me about 8 hours to trim both plants. They were pretty massive though. I seperated the fan leaves out into one pile for Canna Butter. I then saved the real nice resin-coated trimmings in another pile. I dunno what to do with them... Should I make butter? Should I try and make hash? What do you guys think?Everything looks awesome jess! Im no expert on clones cause i kill a bunch of them ..but the ones in dirt seem the easiest to me.. I think your on your way with the lolly popping and everything else looks cool too! The nugs in jars should "feel" right in a week or so you will know when its right it breaks up like weed you bought,make sense?? Hard to explain just like all the other bs on here we worry about, you know when its right !!great job on the trim work too i think thats important for taste too you dont want to smoke a bunch of leaves!!looks like you have all the details ironed out just start trying to make it better each time

So, I added a ton of pics!! I have already got sex determined on 5 plants!!! At only 5 days of 12/12!!!! Anyone who doesn't think Fox Farm Open Sesame is THE SHIT for transitioning from veg to flower in soil....I BEG TO DIFFER!!!
I took six clones (as a part of lollipopping). Two from each of the three FOR SURE ladies. Take a look at the pics. I have three girls, two (dead) boys, and 5 unknowns. How does my pruning look? I know I need to prune more, just not sure where to....
Also, based on the geometry of the preflowers and noting similarities between the established males/females and the unknowns, I am guessing that out of the last 5 I will have at least 2 girls!!! So I am theorizing a 1:1 male/female ratio! Not bad at all, IMO!!
When I took my clones this time, I sterilized my hands, equipment, and surfaces with H2O2. I cut at a NICE 45 degree angle. I then scaritized (I think that's how you say it) part of the stalk where it meets the cut. Also, I thinly sliced the bottom of the 45 degree cut perpendicular to it. Based on some extensive reading of Al B. Fuct's thread concerning cloning, I have implemented this technique. Still no roots on any of the other clones yet at 4-5 days. I hope I get this cloning shit down!!! Before I invest in my White Widow, Blueberry, and Violator Kush fem. seeds, I want to make sure I can keep them going!!! If this doesn't work, I plan to build a homemade aerocloner. In fact, unless I get 80% success rate or above down pat, I am building an aerocloner anyway! They seem to be the shit!!
I also have new bud porn from my first harvest, a pic of the second generation barb seedlings, a massive stock on one of the only 33 day old barbs, a pic of the male balls and the female pistils, a pic of my lollipopped barb asking if I should prune more....etc.
Just pay attention to the title of the .jpg when you look at it, as I conveniently label them so you know exactly what you are looking at. Already ya'll, lay it on me!!!!

that bw took off quick ! your gonna have your hands full when they all sprout! everything looks awesome the nugs look great they will get even tighter just from being in the jars my next set of clones im splitting 1/2 soil 1/2 bubble cloner to see if i can get it right! im getting a small aquarium heater and a seed mat heater thing.. i hear temp is very important i think thats why i had such a hard time.. but i finally got new growth on the two ww girls i saved!

The BW did grow true to it's name, like a WEED! It's not gonna be too bad. Out of 18, 17 have sprouted and they all have the seed off and the first real set of leaves, along with the little set they all start with (can't remember the name, cot-something).that bw took off quick ! your gonna have your hands full when they all sprout! everything looks awesome the nugs look great they will get even tighter just from being in the jars
I have a humidity dome and I think it's working well. I am pretty sure I am getting new growth from 2 of the clones already at about 6-7 days since taking the cutting. I am feeling more and more confidant that I can clone via this method with ease. Once I master cloning and get all the BW done, I am going to retire the strain unless I REALLY like it. But we will see. I could easily change my mind.
My plan is to have a small veg area to keep three mothers alive. One WW, one Blueberry, (both from Dutchman Seed's) and one Violator Kush from Barney's seeds. I will take 2-4 clones per two weeks from each one and have a constant variety!
For soil, I encourage EVERYONE to try the following soil mix. Ocean Forest and Light Warrior from FoxFarm. Use at a 2:1 OF to LW ratio.
So, for 5 gallons of soil or 80 cups, you would use 53 and 1/3 cups of OF, and 26 and 2/3 LW.
Also, and I cannot stress this enough, go out and get yourself a bag of dolamite lime ($3 at Lowes, Home Depot, most anywhere you can buy dirt, compost, etc). It is EXCELLENT for maintaining PH levels and also acts as a great source of calcium and magnesium. Use it at 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil.
ALSO, for $20 a bottle, you can get a product called ROOT ZONE. I have only found it at indoor garden stores, but it may be elsewhere too. It has loads of beneficial bacteria and fungus. Use this at 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil also. Additionally, when transplanting, add 1/4 teaspoon directly below the roots, in the hole made for the transplant. When doing this, I have seen virtually NO delay in growth/transplant shock.
I also use 1 small tiny drop (from a dropper) of SUPERTHRIVE per gallon of water.
Is all of this NECCESSARY? NO. Would some consider it a waste of money, YES. However, I just cut down a male plant at day 33. After vegging under nine 23 watt 6500K CFL's for three weeks and 1 week of 250 watts of HPS.....guess how tall the plant was? 37". IN SOIL. Imagine how big it would be under an HPS light with the same 24/0 veg time for a month!? I must be doing something right! Right? I hope...just when I think I am...
Moreover, I had it growing in an 8" pot. I took the rootball out of the pot and examined it, figuring maybe I could learn something about my plant's from this post-death experiment. My roots, after 33 days, were almost completely rootbound all across the bottom of the container. I didn't take any pics, but I am gonna chop another 3 male tomorrow I think, so I will snap some of those.
Also, I really like Fox Farm Open Sesame. After only 3 days of 12/12 I had preflowers, and in less than a week I had sex showing!
Right now, out of 10 plants under 12/12 since 3/22, all ten have shown sex! 6 females and 4 males! Ok well this post will turn into a book if it gets any longer so I am out!

the lime is key!! i used about a 1/4 cup per 3 gal pot and my ph has never needed adjusting soil growers cant skip the lime and if you can only get pellets grind them or it takes a few months to actually work...good tips jesse!!

So, I picked up a 1000 watt Sun System 10 Switchable ballast, a 6" cool tube reflector (and reflector wings), and a 1000 watt EYE Hortilux Super Enhanced HPS lamp.
I also got a 8" fan from Walmart for exhaust (270 CFM), and a 6" inline duct fan from Home Depot so that I can run a closed exhaust system for my cooltube. So far I am having problems with the temps though. It is running HOT, from 80-84 max. I have been tweaking things tryin to get it right.....ANY HELP?

That's right, out of the 10 barb, I got 6 girls and 4 boys! The boys are dead and the girls have been transplanted for the final time, as they were already root bound again! Not through and through, but definately a thick binding at the bottom of the pot. All the girls have pretty much stopped stretching but we will see. Pistil development is increasing as the Open Sesame goes to town! The little hairs are about an inch long now. They love the 1000 watt light! I can't wait to get my temps under control, it's the last piece of the puzzle! Read on to find out why...

So, at 9 days from cutting I now have three clones with roots for sure! The roots are poking out the side of the little grow cubes in my humidity dome! I am pretty sure that of my about 20 cuttings, I am going to have about 75% success or more on my first attempt! Hell ya!!!!!!

So, there are 17 of them. One was culled due to a shitty start, and one is about to meet the same fate. So, if everything proceeds according to planned, I will have 16 new barbs. At least 8 girls. Plus the 6 girls I have now, for a total of 14 barb ladies. Then there's cloning....Then there's finishing plant 3 and 4 from my first batch (pics included).....THEN after all that is about to finish up, I am gettin WW, BB, and Violater KUSH.

those duct booster fans from depot are not that strong i saw a guy had one on each end of a 1000watter and that cooled it fine 1 suckin...1blowin you dump your hot air in the attic right??

hey man, try and get an airconditioner, or alternatively you could use industrial pc fans and ducting if your short on spac and money....try and see if your mcamera has a "tungsten" light setting, it should take the bands away if its good enough, hope all goes well

Ok so I pulled the lights out of the closet. With an outdoor high of 78f, my closet got up to 90f!!!
So the 1000 watt cool tube is now in the room where the closet is. I have the two 240 CFM duct fans from home depot going, one on each end of the reflector. I ran the outake to the ceiling vent in the bathroom adjoining the room (its a master bedroom). I am using a little less ducting this way also.
I just got done setting up the new space. I didnt let the room cool down from the day and tried the lights and such. So far after an hour it has only risen by 2 degrees and that was right away. Cross my fingers, this will work.
If it doesnt I am going to change my light cycle to 10 pm to 10 am or something until the end of the month when I can afford a really powerful 540 CFM 6" inline fan for the reflector.
ANY IDEAS APPRECIATED, PLEASE!

I don't have it figured out yet! My temps were at 86 by the time I got home from work. The plants look totally stressed. I am fucking pissed. So yeah, I might get it figured out, but that's not why I post on here....its to get feedback. That may have added a post to your record but it doesn't do me much good!
I am switchin to evening lights on tonight. Fucking bullshit. I spent $600 to seemingly bake some perfecting fucking healthy plants.

I apologize Wink. I was out of line, I didn't mean to go off.
Well I tried this but all I can afford until the end of the month is these two duct fans....This works for everyone else...
So I am stuck until then. Even with a powerful fan I don't know how well it will work for me because of a couple of factors Gypsy.
First, this is in an upstairs bedroom and there is no option of bringing it downstairs.
Second, even if I use the setup you described, I will be dumping my hot air from the closet into the bedroom....which is also where I am drawing in my fresh air.
Gypsy how do I remedy this? I can't cut a hole in the wall and vent it that way. I can't cut a hole in the ceiling and vent it there. I can't cut a hole in the door and vent it out of the room either. So even if I pull the hot air off of the light, nothing will really cool down because I will just be moving air, not exhausting it. Or am I wrong? If I get a nice 6" inline fan for the reflector and a nice 8" fan for the room exhaust, will it cool down, even if its dumping into where I am drawing in air?
Alternatively, I can vent the air through the bathroom fan vent. If I get a more powerful fan setup, do you think it will exhaust the heat from the light sufficently to not allow the room to get so hot?
What am I missing here?
Well anyway, I am a calm, good-hearted guy normally. After spending all this money and all this time, I feel like it's slipping away from me. I am sure you can all understand how that would feel....these pretty Barb girls are just starting to bud and they are all drooping and getting totally stressed from this heat. I just chose the wrong approach to dealin with that frustration though guys!

Well thats how I have it set up now. I have about 8 feet of 6" ducting used total and two 240 CFM inline duct fans. This is not working.
Is it because my fans suck?
Should I mount the fan in the space where the old (shitty) fan was, or hang it and run ducting to the opening (it fits snug on the 6" ducting and this is how I have it currently)
If I get a nice 6" inline fan to replace my two shitty ones, will that work you think?

Yup... there is no way they are putting out 240CFM... they are rated for that, but they are meant as booster... that is just how much they will allow through without restriction...
Whatever works for you.. less bends are better... noise might be a consideration too...
I have pointed out to you a few times that I use a 6" 424cfm fan to cool 3x 600w...
and that Al uses 200cfm to cool 2x 1000w...
So go with what you know....
You have to find a place for the exhaust to go... you just won't be able to cool anything until you can get rid of the heat, which is the point of the air cooled light...
Tap into the bathroom exhaust... dump the filtered air in there, along with the light's air...
I hope you get this figured out before you decide to scrap it... it is not brain surgery, and a lot of us stoners get it... but you gotta have exhaust... just gotta...

just run the smaller lights until all the vent issues are taken care of ..you know how to controll the smaller ones perfectly even if you need to rig up some cfls for a few days untill you get that heat over to the bathroom! but you will definatly get it ....deep breath ... anything we can help with just ask!
