First time LED grow

Hey, I am new to this site and just posted my first journal. I am very interested in your grow and have been doing some research myself.

I am working with a manufacturer in China and this is what I am getting pricing on right now. These are single fixture and I have requested pricing for lighting a 5x5 area using a single fixture.

These are the specs:

300w led grow light, Luminous:11500lm, Color:red(660nm) and blue(460nm), ratio:8:1,
Total leds:288PC in this light, replace 800-1000W MH/HPS light, Input voltage:AC120/230V
Gross Weight:10KG/PC,warranty:3years )

600w led grow light, Luminous:22000lm, Color:red(660nm) and blue(460nm),
ratio:8:1, Total leds:576PC in this light, replace 1600-1850W MH/HPS light, Input voltage:AC120/230V
Gross Weight:16KG/PC,warranty:3years

I would like to subscribe to your post but not sure how to do that.

Anyone interested in what one of these babies cost?

You're subscribed automatically when you reply to a thread. You may also sub to a thread by using the 'Thread Tools' menu at the top of the thread on the right...for all you thread tools. :P

Good luck with your China led panel hook up man but you really should do more research on both the subject of led's and lighting for growing plants goes. You stating the lumen output for those panels you're talking about getting made tells me you just don't get it.

You're obviously using the lumen output as your reference for what size conventional HID lamp they should replace but if you knew anything about leds and light for photosynthesis you'd know those panels "should" be able to replace much more HID light but they probably won't even meet your claims.

There are a lot more factors that need to be considered when talking about leds for photosynthesis than just spectrum and output and I honestly do not think you have a good grasp of those two topics yet.

You may think I'd an anti-led person but that's far from the truth. Fact is I've been watching and researching leds for growing buds since the early '90s.

It cracks me up that so many people here think that they or someone else here were the "first" to do something new in the way of growing buds. Not talking about anyone in this thread. For instance someone here said in another persons GJ that they were the "first" to take plants from seed to bud with nothing more than leds and that is just not true. First one I've seen done complete from seed to bud was done about 6 years ago on OG and chances are he wasn't the first just the first to post a grow journal showing it being done.

I've seen many panels almost identical to yours (288 leds and all) tested and while they will grow plants they just don't compare to HID or even cfl for that matter when it comes to yields.

There were some GREAT threads on OG about leds and some of the posters were extremely intelligent people. Unfortunately I didn't save every thread nor did I save every page of most of them but I DO have most of the best posts archived. Maybe I'll get into it in another thread if enough people are interested in having an intelligent convo about the subject but I think I've hijacked this thread plenty for now. :P

I know this may be a very dumb question but I will ask anyway. Does anybody know the output of christmas lights and would they work if you had enough and the right ratio. I was thinking of making a homemade box with using christmas lights covering every square inch of the use able space. would this work or am I crazy. well I know I am crazy but you know what I mean..

I doubt christmas lights put out enough for the plants to grow properly.

KOOL !!!! i like the color and that other plant you had, had a mental disorder, she was speacial ed, no im serious, she looked like her genes were messed up, i had some of those, i think it happens when you drop the little seedling on its head, poor bby RIP baby skuny. it is better that she dies cus she would have been a slow grower anyways, :/ sorry im high and this is why its illegal?
