yeah forget what i said about 80oz. 32oz seems like plenty for throughout the 5gal soil for now.

Im not sure how you did it but you should have watered the soil before putting the plant in it. Get the new media in the 5 gal pot wet with lots of run off....wait a bit for it to drain. then put plant in soil ,back fill without compacting soil, water again enough to make old soil as wet as new soil and done. Is that what you did?what do you do about soil shrinkage after it has absorbed water? just leave it as is, or try to fill it back in? seems like it would be hard to fill back in safely
sort of and sort of not. i think it's fine. i didn't compact it. we'll see. kinda late to go making changes now but at least i'm learning for next timeIm not sure how you did it but you should have watered the soil before putting the plant in it. Honestly, for a first grow I would be very impressed if you pulled 4 oz's -but you bought the right seeds to do it!G13 right after final transplant is still achieving nice healthy green progress. those bottom 2 leaves are still green/yellow, i.e. not getting any worse, thankfully. the upper plant is visibly growing daily. i see a new set of leaves every day, every other day. my plant is still tiny tiny tiny compared to dr.gruber's photos, but it's growing. it's alive & kicking
considering my total lack of planting/farming experience, i think i'm doing great. yes, i bought this plant for the high yield. however, from the getgo i had set a break-even point of 4 dry ounces. not pounds, ounces. that is still the goal. anything beyond that is gravy whenever i try the 2nd seed later this year, that plant will have much more ideal circumstances.
yeah i know it sounds lame on a marijuana board but who cares? i'm happy i brought some new life into the world. it is already a win/win situation even if the thing croaks right now, hehe...
yep.....that about sums it up.is this about right?
avoid dark during veg day - good idea
avoid light during veg night - important

I have tried various sprays but i just heard no-pest strips are the way to go....well, 2 things:
the "grow room" now consists of the 5 gallon bucket filled w/ soil & the plant in the center, another 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out and sitting loosely on the dirt, with a $6 12-watt 4-inch fan mounted on that empty bucket, and the ufo illuminator right on top of all that. this setup is pretty light-tight and it seems perfect to me (unless i'm missing something?), until the plant outgrows the height or width of the bucket, which will be a while from now.
just as i'm perfecting that setup, i see a microscopic white thing walking down the length of a leaf. i looked up known cannabis pests and it could be a spider mite, a louse, or something else. i think i saw one flying around too. they're as small as a grain of sand. i sprayed down the whole plant and mostly the undersides of the leaves. plan a = keep an eye out frequently, plan b = organic insect killer, plan c = pesticide chemicals, plan d = introduce the natural predator of whatever it is, but i gotta say that sounds far fetched.
any ideas?
