First time Grower an wit CFL's too!

i 'v used flo all the way through it works but buds are not very big.now i use the flos for veg and a 400 watt hps and now i get a nice yield. Do about 4 plants .

topping can be good you want to wait till your plants have at least 5 nodes then you just clip the main stem right above the 2 newest side growths.. i have 3 plants i left 2 normal and topeed 1.. instead of having 1 main cola you will have 2 and all the side growths and small budsites will produce more.. in my case i ended up with 2 large colas and 2 smaller colas but also very nice in size. im glad i tried it out that plant seems to have alot more growth than the other 2 and if i do grow again i will probally try this again on another plant im pleased with the outcomebongsmilie

i know i keep posting about lights but in the uk i cant seem to find any Y adaptors (if anyone knows where i can get them, please tell me) i've even asked a few builders.
I've never heared of LED grow lights before but stumbled across one on eBay.
Anyone ever used these before? seems to good to be true!!

which one is a waste? the CFL or the LED pannel.
got plants on 18hr light at the moment and they seem to be getting bigger by the day! i'm a bit concerned they may get to big as i hear they grow quite a bit during flowering.

pulled leaves off as they were almost yellow!

Stop doing that!! The plant needs even the yellow leaves. when the plant is done with the leaf and no longer needs it , it will fall off.

LED lights are about as useful as teets on a Bull for growing, maybe someday they will perfect the technology, but right now its a far cry from what one can do with a cheap ole HPS light.

You need more light! Thats as simple as I can get, If you really want to get those plants to grow your going to need about 10 of those 22 watt CFL bulbs to get ok results. 2 bathroom vanity lights will have enough sockets and they are fairly easy to install and wire.

good post + rep

The leaves were mainly pulled off because of the mold like stuff starting to cover them.
I've just looked at bathroom vanity lights but here in the UK we dont seem to have the same sort, (with 4or5 bulbs in a line) I'll just have to make a board with several bayonet cap fittings instead.
after a bit of research it seems that here in the UK our equilivent CFL bulbs have a lower lumen output;
for example.....a CFL equilivent to 100W is around 20-22W and emits around 1500 lumen, in the UK they emit about 1150 lumen. i've also noticed that in USA you can buy 150 watt bulbs, over here were limited to about 100. seems in UK we have the short end of the stick. at least we dont have Bush tho!

just an update with some new pics. they really seem to be getting bigger every day. been taking alot of pics but guesing no-one wants a day by day update... hoping to create some kind of time lapse once their all done!

Thanks again for all you'r help people.
as you may be able to see, the mold type stuff is now gone (without any pestercide) just got the fan occerlating and on more regularly.

i use those. i have 2 of each colour spectrum. for veg they are great. i don't think they are so good for flower tho. i've added some extra red spectrum cfls. check out my journal for more info.

cool man. i guess i need some red spec cfls. but anyone used these dual red an blue ones? also, is it ok to bend plants over. ive only got bout 3 foot of space...

look in the grow faq there are many bending techniques i did this with a few of my plants from the beginning but they turned out to be males so never really saw the end result lol.. just do a lil at a time so that you dont stress it or break it.. slightly bend and use a string or a paperclip to tie that bitch down ;)bongsmilie

thought i better post some pics of how I tied them down.... if anyone has any ideas about the mold im open to suggestions.... i read about using baking soda and water to break the mold down so i'll pick some up later. i also just bent the plants over a bit more and think i might have broken one. it's not torn the stalk but it does have a crease (i'll take some pics when i get some more batterys) i am starting to worrie about them tho.
as usuall all help/comments/observations are welcome.
cheers everyone!

dual spectrum lighting is great, but remember plants need more blue for vegetation and more red for fruiting/flowering. read here: Powerplants Greenhouse Horticultural Technical Systems Australia Its a simple read.

topping is good in limited growing areas or just to keep plants on the "down low", lol. I have topped mine, the ones that have reached my 2 ft limit, and will top the rest when they get there. Cons: less plant, possible decrease in harvest quantity. Pros: manageability, without risk of breakage from bending, tying. one top, becomes two, and possibly, energy that would have gone into height will now go into fullness.

don't over water, very easy to do. number one mistake of 1st timers. let that soil get real dry. air circulation usually prevents mold and fungus, high humidity encourages mold and fungus, ie; more circulation, less humidity.
