First Little Leaves on Sprout are Yellow

So does the root face up or down :(? lol:wall:

Planted it root up, read it doesn't really matter and they come up faster root up, so i did :P. Sorry also i planted it in the little yellow cup, filled with perlite and soil watered BEFORE seed went in, about half an inch down. I feel confident about this little fella :). The reason i didn't plant it in those little paper things is because i still wasn't comfortable with planting them in there from past experiences, and i honestly think me being comfortable about where they are, will save their life from me lol.

Also keeping a log to keep track of the age of them, last grow i didn't know how old they were lol, in veg i just guessed how old they were and stuck with it. Here's what i got so far :P. I edit it so the seed that died is out of the picture.

Germinating first seed - 5/9/11

First seed goes in - 5/11/11

First seed comes up - 5/13/11

Germinating second seed - 5/13/11

Second seed goes in soil - 5/14/11

Works for me every time. Pointing the tap root down more often than not causes the seedlings to come up with the seed casing still attached to the new growth. Maybe you should take your own advice and not say a word.

OK Beanie Baby show us where in the scientific agriculture world where the tap root would be better positioned pointed up than down. It seems that nature prefers it down. I have attached a few photos with one very nicely drawn out one of the seed and all the parts of it and my favorite is the one with the cotyledon still attached to the hypocotyl. I highly suggest you study it.

I would be glad to, but it seems we have guys like you Beanie Baby that grow weed with their mom and have no clue really of what they are talking they just go about spewing out information having no clue of what is fact or fiction. So when your ready to start giving accurate advice to grown ups and not High School kids let me know.

So BB if you want to go around and round with me you better bring facts and science or I will be more than happy to spank your ass and send you home to momma like I just did.

Well that seed i planted kinda looks like it might come up tall, because all that came up is like a loop of the root, so i'm just supposing it's working the leaves up. But should i turn the lights on for her at this point, or wait till the leaves show?

Some say up, some say down. It wont really matter. The tap root is going to find its way into the soil and dig itself in either way.

Honestly it doesnt matter. Ive planted seeds both ways. Dont even ttrip.
I would agree if the seed was just straight planted in the soil but when you sprout them and the stick the root the wrong way you can make the thing work to hard and there is no reason for it.

Well in that case, should i turn the lights on? or should i cover it up until the leaves come above?

Well he was asking if he was screwed. And while it will work harder to come up, hes not screwed.

On this one it depends on how much the little guy has already worked so at this point its a wait and see. Turn on the lights.
Lights are on :).

Here's what she looks like right now.

I got thinking about making her work too hard to get up.... So i found a little stick in that cup that was in the soil, and gently lifted the seed end up to give her a little push. The shell of the seed slid right off and exposed 2 some what healthy looking leaves lol. I'll go take a pic of her right now.
