Yea. I fill the 20oz bottle up about half way with water, add like a half tablespoon of baker's yeast, and a few tablespoons of sugar. Poke a hole in the cap and screw it on, then shake it up a bit. After a few days, you may need to add more sugar to keep the reaction going. The process creates CO2 and alcohol. The alcohol eventually gets to a concentration where it prevents the reaction from continuing, and you will need to empty the bottle and make a fresh batch.

I haven't read any specifics on what kinda results you get, but you can easily test it with one of the CO2 ppm testing kits. I think it works pretty well, considering the amount of pressure that builds up when you shake the bottles. They sell more expensive units which do the same thing, but use an air pump / bubbler to keep it agitated which I hear is better, since it doesn't cause the alcohol to mix together with the yeast so much.
