first grow conditions so far: any feedback?

Hey, if those are your latest pic's you still have a while to go... if you're desperate to try her, it'd be ok to take off a couple of the lower branches while leaving the rest to mature. Looks to me like she has easily 2 weeks left.

yep, those are the latest pics, my friend- so what should i look for to change? will something be different about about the way the buds look? if there are essentially no functioning fan leaves left, will it continue to develop?

It's really difficult to say. I think she'll still age but won't grow much more bud. the lock-out (if it can be called such, as you are merely out of the optimum range) is stopping a lot of the nutes getting through. You need to remedy this... but then it may be too late as the other problems associated with lock out take a while to sort themselves out. Which is silly this late into flower.

If I were you, I'd just leave her till she or you cannot take anymore.

thanks for the advice, skunk- as an experiment, i think i'm going to mix up some feed with my new nutes, calibrate my new nute meter, and get some experience feeding them like that for the next watering, perhaps tonight or tomorrow, then keep a keen eye on them and see how they react to that this late in the game...

i think i will go ahead and chop a low bud off of each plant and start drying it to see what this stuff ends up like, and then i'll just let the plants go, keeping track of the trichomes to make sure they don't start to degrade... we'll see what happens, soon enough!

okay... i just had a bong hit of a quick dried bud from minnie...

my eyes feel like really buzzy... and EVERYTHING seems electrified... it's all around my ears and my eyes and my neck... if this hit is like earlier this afternoon, the buzzing will dismantle and leave me with a notably clear, happy high! this is gonna be great when it's dried and cured properly... god, my whole face is melting as i type

Yeah, for the first time you realise what you've been missing out on all those years.

they looking sweet and FAT nice job. From the last pics I just seen it looks like you got few weeks to go. all those dead yellowing dieing leaves i woulnt worry about them. sucking up all the nutes and life outta them and puting it twards the buds. great job

thanks for the comments everyone, i was really surprised at how potent the bud i smoked was!! i can say without a doubt that the high it produced was way better than the original bag of weed the seeds came from. the small, fluffy lower bud from minnie yielded two bowls yesterday, and i suspect i'll fill one more bowl today with the leftovers... the thing that amazed me was that i didn't turn into a couch potato! but i was buzzing like crazy!! it felt like my eyeballs were numb, and this crept through to yhe back if my head, and then down my neck, into my ears, and then all around my face. after it fully formed into a helmet, blanketing my head, it just lifted off kind of suddenly, and then i was just absolutely clearminded and happy... this happened the same way both times i smoked! the once upon a time couch-potato-bagseed schwag that turned into THIS, thanks to rollitup, and my rs scope

the funny thing was, i thought i had an extra hour to kill before a recording session, but it turns out, right after i hit that bong the first time, it dawned on me that i needed to head straight out the door or i was gonna be late for work- man, i was FLYING around the house getting all my gear lol... had a great session, too- music flowed out of me with ease, and i could hear EVERYTHING. certainly have performed stoned many-a-time, but this was different!

Yes, cannabis is excellent at opening the creative pathways... there seems to be more of a relationship thing when it's your own weed.

it is euphoric smoking your own... i love to practice while stoned, and to do any creative problem solving i need to... and to think i just speed-dried the bud in the microwave- saw the method in the grow faq- 1:00 in tupperware with a damp paper towel over the top with the lid partially fit over top of the paper towels- i set the microwave at 40% power, and ran it 5 times like that, opening it and letting the moisture evaporate in between each minute and remoistening the paper towel when needed... i know, it's a terrible way to treat your bud, but i was desperate, and the weed STILL kicked ass can't wait to chop this stuff and give it a chance to dry and cure properly!

about the yield, i don't have a scale yet, but i'm guessing i'll have at least an ounce dry from each plant, probably closer to 2 oz from bertha... but i really don't know... the little fluffy bud i took from minnie is enough to fill 3-4 small bong bowls... i just came off a week-long gig playing with a dude who gets his herb from humboldt co.- primo one-hit shit- and i was hitting it hard every day. i have missed maybe two or three days this past year, otherwise, smoking every day, and yesterday, my "crappy" bagseed kicked my ass, and lasted a long time... simply awesome!!

thanks robbie- i will definitely post my findings about those things, so stay tuned- gotta figure out where i can get some cheap ball-mason jars and an accurate scale... anybody have a scale recommendation?

Well I just spent at least 2 hrs reading your entire journal and i just wanna say geat job. I am working on setting up my first real indoor grow op rite now and your journal gave me alot of great ideas on how to set it up and wut to use. Not sure were to get your jars but for a scale I would just drop by your local head shop and see what they recomend. Again great job! and the buds look great!

had a great time with my samples of minnie's lower buds this past week... got a couple close friends high, and it was so fulfilling seeing them become very stoned- both said it was their "best high in a long time"

i think she's gonna be harvested before bertha, maybe i'll give her a few more days, and then chop chop chop...

i found one very tiny bud on a low branch of bertha that looked like it had seeds... nothing else like it on either plant, so i popped it off and opened the bud, sure enough, there were about 15 perfectly sturdy seeds, fully developed... no pic, though.

...so, i quickdried a small low-bud on bertha... i know... bad... i'm sorry
i just COULD NOT RESIST lol... hit it in the bong, and now i can hear my pulse in my ears, but it sounds like white noise... it's weird... my fingers are actually having a hard time concentrating, if that makes any sense at all, i don't know lol

started the quickdry on top of my toaster oven... let it go for an hour... then i split it, and left half on the toaster (been 20 min ago, by now) and put the other half in the microwave for 4 one-minute bursts at 20 and 30% power... broke up the buds, and set it on top of the toaster oven for another couple minutes, threw it in the bong, and it worked, i'm whacked! soon, i'll take the leftovers off the oven and hit that, see if it seems more potent for not having been in the microwave... this has to be the most fun i've ever had doing an experiment

Yeah, they do look nice and fat... did you take clones? Looks like a nice strain.

thanks skunk! nope, no clones this time... it was just too much for me to deal with for the first grow. i am going to take clones this next time, so i imagine in about 6-7 weeks from now, i'll be learning everything i can about how to clone... gonna start germ tonight i think, so i'll probably sey up a new journal for that.
