Finally getting started

Hey all! Awesome forum, glad I found it
I'll be getting my grow setup by the end of this week (..finally) I have decided to go for the
HomeBox XL with charc. filter w/fan, Ballast brightstar 600W, Son-T 600W (bloom), SunMaster (MH)600W (for vegging, does anyone know if this would be a good bulb for seedlings as well if I strung it up high over the plants?), Aeroflo 20 from GHE and their 3 part nutes pack. Rockwool and clay pellets. ph up/down and meter(s)
I have been looking around this forum but haven't seen anyone use the aeroflo20. Anyone here that uses this system?
Anyone got any feedback on the GHE's 3 part solution?
I am also wondering about GHE's Ripen, which is to be used the last ten days before harvest. The last ten days the plants should only receive water, anyone that have used this product on their crops?
Thinking about buying a biofilter as well but unsure because I'm thinking it will clean away the nutesolution(?).
Will be growing Aurora Indica , some Afghan and bagseed I got from a friend and I hope I can get a camera so I can make a journal of it all w/pics and text
First crop so nothing fancy this time, just want to grow it up and harvest what's left..
Any ideas for res cooling?
Tell me what you think about the setup and let me know if you think I left something out here.

Have a good 420 :joint::mrgreen:

Nice Plans! Definately get a digital cam and post pics.
I wouldn't mess with the biofilter for the exact reason you mentioned. I would plan just as carefully the ventilation of your room......
Best of Luck!

That air cleaner is pretty cool.

The downside to the air cleaner as that is it does nothing to draw in fresh air and circulate the oxygen rich air out. YOU MUST VENT NEW AIR IN AND EXHAUST THE OLD. Be sure to plan your ventillation. It is a very big deal if you are using HID lights. Your growroom will cook.

Yea the guy at the shop is going to help me with this when it comes to ventilation. Can't decide if I wanna go for the aircooled tube or the adjust-a-wing. I will also get a fan to attach to the charc. filter and maybe a pc fan to put in the intake hole of the tent.

Yeah, I've grown a couple of crops in the areoflo. I call it an enhanced NFT. It's a tough system for a newbie. Since the medium is the nute solution, it's a must to keep it right all the time. So good for thinking about the res temps, they are best in the 60's. If your res is in the growroom, and air temps get above 80, then your res will be too warm. I would suggest a pH and EC monitor, where the electrode stays in the res, and you can constantly read it.

GH's 3-part nutrient will be great in that system. And you won't need to flush at the end, because there will be no medium to flush. Just run plain water for the last 2-3 days.

Thanx for stepping in there potroast. I was just getting ready to say that would be a tough one for a new grower. VV

Why is this such a difficult system to have?
I have completely moved away from the idea of using soil, what I have to keep in mind is keeping it clean, maintaining good temperature, nutes, topping off and changing the water every 2 weeks right?
Don't wanna come off sounding harsh here because I really appreciate the input I get back from you guys/girls here!!
This system is the best solution I can find here in my country (only got about two shops I know of that sell this type of stuff here, lol) for the best use of the limited space I have.
Would like to hear more about the lighting I have chosen
600w MH for seedling/vegging?

Happy growin' y'all, may the nutes be with you! :joint::joint::mrgreen:

Aeroflo2 is an amazing system, and does take some time to get used to,,

Personally when I started I had never even grown anything indoors, and I managed to figure out that you had to check the nutes once in the morning once at night...........
and yes change the res every 2 weeks.

If you start all your nutes at half strength and slowly raise them while watching your plants reactions it isn't that hard at all.

For nutes I would recommend using any of the below listed in order of best results: {I have tested all of them}
1.)ProBlend
2.)Foxfarm
3.)Floranova
4.)GH general use

As for your meter. I like to use Hanna. They make ph/ec/ppm combo that work year after year.. As for getting a meter that is always in the solution you may want to reconsider this: I have found that meters that are left in the solution get buildup, and they need to be calibrated more often which is a pain in the ass. The ones that come as dropin you can dip in straight water B4 u replace the protective cap.

For the person trying to dive into this and come out a HUGE firstime winner... you have found the right system. Just go easy with the nutes at first..... when you kno what the fuck you are doing later o you can juice the hell out of them and manage not to burn. Never let your ppm hit above the 1200 range your first time,, considering of course the starting ppm of the water you are using....

and where you get the water... GOOD WATER=150ppm and below starting. if your ta pwater is not this low you are going to have to find a water source....... I USE SNOW! low ppm! around 0050. If you use Reverse Osmosis water be sure to use a Cal/Mag.

It's just alot of $ and it is hard for people to understand why they should spend that much. The reason is you are getting professional quality parts, that work great and have no light leaks to your res. It stays clean and as much time as you ever wanted to spend building your own, it would not outperform the aeroflo2........and yes I take that as a challenge.... to anyone out there...... including myself.....
