Great thread - I pasted it in my own journal for easy ref.

Currently in 4x4
7 seeds from a grower friend - says they're all fem & hybrid / indica but exact genetics unk.
Sprouted in paper towels between to plates from the cupboard, stored in the same cupboard - 48 hours
FFOF in 1qt (?) brown pots for seedlings ( 3/4" taps) May 20
FFOF transplant to 5 gal final pots
FFOF top dress at 3.5 weeks from seed.
Flipped to 12/12 June 24 (2 weeks ago) - the stretch has begun.
All 7 are green and vibrant.

I wanted to do a full run with nothing but FFOF as a baseline grow before I go screwing things up - but here goes anyway...

I'm planning to top dress FFOF a week or so following stretch --- guess I'm looking for reassurance that this path will work through harvest.
However, I did hedge by buying a bag of Flower Girl, "Just in case". Would 1/4 strength to start make sense?

I think that I just have a mild case of newbie "acquisition disorder" --- I need more products to be a "real grower"! o_O
My journal is in my sig - any and all are welcome to comment.

**Quick Update**

My ladies are officially 6 weeks.
My runt is unrecognizable. All 3 of the Crystal Meth's are getting bigger by the day. My one girl in the back had clawed a bit but hasn't gotten any worse. Im thinking my blurple led was too close. FINALLY upgraded my light. Im now running a 1000 ts Mars Hydro. Recharge day went well. Getting ready to top.feed the 3 CM 8n another week. My 2 Gorilla Glues are just starting to flower. The kelp has speed things up a great deal. Will update in a week or 2. Think I will need to add another dehumidifier.

I am planning on starting my first grow in the next few weeks, I will be 2x3x5 tent with the Mars ts 600. I'm waiting on my white widow autoflower seeds from Pacific seed bank, my question is can anyone tell me the best dry amendments to add to me ffof soil, I was gonna go with ff big 3 nutes after the seedling stage but this thread made me re think my plans

Hmmmm maybe the wrong thread to post this but why do growers look to supplement with chemicals if they're not running hydro or Coco? And even then there are organic options.

I like what the OP said "let them grow on their own terms"

This thread was created to help those who seem to overthink the ease of use of this highly ammended bag soil. I see many growers both new and experienced seem to post “ issues “ when trying to run this medium.

I am merely showing a simple no frills method of container / bag grows for autos. Since feeding requirements will be for average 90 ( + or - ) day average for autoflower growth , this will fit it perfectly.

No multi bottle nonsense ... No special water requirements ( use tap ) ... No boosters

FFOF is one of the most complete “ off the shelf “ bagged medium one can by ..... ready to use alone.
Other growers I talked with , mentioned regional differences among stock.

Ingredients: Composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, Pacific Northwest sea-going fish emulsion, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, sandy loam, perlite, bat guano, granite dust, Norwegian kelp, and oyster shell (for pH adjustment).

Medium is prebuffered to 6.3 .

I will list 2 versions of soil setup .......

1. Plain FFOF soil run only
2. Pelletized dry nute ammended ( self feed )

Begin with the final container size you wish to run ...... I run 1 gallon SOG bags and 3/5 gallon plastic black or air pots ( air prune ). Smart bags will work also. You will be planting directly to pot. You can also grow a seedling in a solo with a seed starter mix and plant as plug into this medium too. But for this , I will show you that FFOF is not quite as hot to seedlings as some report.

You will NOT be feeding the seedling at all with outside Nutes. It will feed on its own from the medium only and will acclimate “ faster and easier “ than dropping more Nutes on top of this charged medium.

Water :

TAP
( whether allowed to vape off 24 hours or not ) it will work. No RO , distilled , holy water , unicorn sweat or other “ special “ water sources. Your ONLY REQUIREMENT is to PH correctly.
PH range for entire autoflower run : 6.3 to 6.5 ( No more No less ) .

Soil is pretty aerated on its own but works much better with added perlite. I tend to shoot for 25% minimum more by volume of medium used.

I am using a simple 1 gallon grow bag for a SOG grow of 9 plants for a tent I am running. However adjust your volume of perlite to container size you choose.

Your mix should resemble something like this ....

View attachment 4395524

This bag is half filled AND HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN RUN TWO DIFFERENT VARIATIONS.

1. Fill remainder with same mix .
2. Add a tablespoon of Dry Fertilizer ( Dr. Earth 5-5-5 or megacrop 1 tsp ).

When running FFOF solo .... I merely MIST this half fill with water to hydrate it , then cover fill to top.

For Dry Ammend : I am using Dr. Earth LIFE fertilizer ( 5-5-5 ) or Megacrop
This method is similar to Canucks grow method using dry fertilizer and coco grows he does with autoflowers.

Note : I found Dr. Earth LIFE at the 99¢ ( half off ) in 1 gallon bags ! .... needless to say I grabbed a few .
Dr. Earth Fruit and Veg and Flower Girl are both good options also.

For some LED grows : CalMag “ may “ be needed occasionally and will only need be added 1tsp per gallon of water before use.

FFOF by itself will carry an auto for weeks on its own ........ on water only. The pelletized feed will self charge and supplement myco as plant moves thru bloom. The alternate method is merely top dressing FFOF in those grows running bag FFOF only.

I do not flush or leach medium upon final weeks ..... I merely continue watering requirements.
NO FRILLS .

You will find the plants prefer feeding on its own terms instead of dumping a brew all over it .

Just keep your PH in range and you will see how well this bagged soil does.

Hope this helps. PEACE.
This is awesome I'm a first time grower I'm on week 8 kinda wish I read this thread weeks ago would of put me at ease as this is exactly what I am doing

I wish more people posted their natural grows

The people who use nutrients and post problems and receive threads of reply on what nutes are better are hilarious.

They don’t realize it’s like “umm you nuked your soil now your plants are not happy”

Idk why the marijuana growers ever thought they needed to do more than tomatoes.

Not like they’re wholesale - so their bud just tastes worse

So far so good other than slightly cooler than wanted night temps ( 68° ) and will introduce some heat to eliminate
possible uptake problems
I am germinating my white widow auto now, I'm using the method i learned from your threads with the ffof with added perlite mixed with happy frog, I am working about high temps and humidity in my tent, I have been running my light Mars hydro 600 watt 18/6 with the 6 hours starting at 1130 am to keep the temps from from skyrocketing during the hottest part of the day my temp has been averaging around 79 degrees Fahrenheit with a high of 82 and a low of 75 I have my ac infinity 4in fan running on full speed 24/7 do you think I will have problem with this temp? My humidity has been bouncing between 55 and 65 , I have a small dehumidifier sealed to the passive vent with cardboard and ducting tape and I also ran ducking from my central ac from my bedroom I to my tent, any help you could give me would be awesome...

My ladies are 9 weeks now. Thinking the two slow pokes in the back will need a few more weeks ESPECIALLY my runt. Happy to report they are all doing well. I know I have thanked you countless times @Budzbuddha but honestly you laid out a fool proof way to grow with ease and I honestly couldn't have done this without you friend:hug:
Getting ready to recharge the 2 ladies in the back once more. 3 in the front are almost done. Trichome's are getting a bit cloudy. Holding out till i see some of them turn amber. Just keeping everone comfortable and happy. Very satisfied with my new light and liquid kelp is AMAZING!!! Check out some pics below and as ALWAYS any feedback/advice is greatly appreciated.
