Hello,
just wanting a few opinions on wether to risk buying some quality non feminized seeds? I just have a small grow, 4 plant max space available. If bad luck strikes I could end up only running 1 plant or worse 0. Where as feminized is a sure thing.
Thoughts appreciated

How much of a gambler are you? I've run both ways. It is heartbreaking to have to kill your best looking plant(males seem to be prettier till they start flowing) but reduced chances of herming. I've had success with feminized(hell, I've made some of my own) but genetic instability is more possible.
If cuts are a possibility go that way, just be sure your IPM is on point.

Girl it up, I still remeber (before internet and sales of fem seeds...wasting so much time on plants that ended up as males. 7 out of ten seeds one time were male. Waste of time and $energy.

A lot of feminized seeds aren’t as stable as normal seeds that end up female. But if your environment is dialed in and you don’t stress them out too much for too long you won’t have much problems if they’re from a good breeder. I will never grow a non feminized seed again. Plus if you get a hermie you can probably get some free good fem seeds from it

Fem all the way. Especially the more plants you have. My last run was non-femd - wanted to end with 10 plants so started with 20. So much soil, water, work, nutrients, training, just to chop half.

Got my first fem'd seeds from ILGM, all germ'd and all females.

It depends what you're trying to do. If you just want to grow some plants for smoke then get feminized. If you want to make more seeds of the strain get regulars. If they're quality regs it's easy to isolate a male and use the pollen to make more seeds. Buy once grow forever.
Something to be said for both - fem seeds make girls - mostly..... (herms)

Reg seeds are - well - reg.
Taking my first trip down that rabbit hole - I kept 2 boys and 2 girls from this run aside to make seeds.
Currently a seed run with Herijuana, next up is most likely Malana --- thinking of a Herijuana / Malana hash strain.

It's a lot of fun, and I'm learning yet another facet of growing my favorite plant - I can see this becoming a habit.........
I've been very tempted to post this shot as a "Ready to harvest?" pic. as a joke :weed:

Sexing plants is really not that difficult and once you learn how to sex them it opens up a lot more choices as far as breeders are concerned.
Then you can choose any strain you like, feminized or non-feminized.

Sexing plants is a useful skill to learn, and it gives you more options once you learn to do it.

Back again with questions and thoughts.
I am curious if growers have had issues with high male to female ratios in their regular seeds? I bought 2 strains of regular seeds from a reputable breed/ grower for a high price of $100 for 10 seeds. I planted 4 seeds of each strain and ended up with 8 males. Thus $80 for males and no females. I had hoped to perpetuate these strains and get more seeds to work with. Luck of the draw I know but...
As such, my feeling is regular seeds should be half the price of fem seeds being as statistically one should have a 50/ 50 chance of males versus female. In my case I ended up with 100/ 0 males versus female and not sure I will ever buy seeds from that breeder again with such high ratios of males.
I grew other breeder seeds side by side with the pricey breeder and got the typical 50/ 50 ratio of males/ females so it was not technique but the seeds themselves.

I know a few people who say reg seed grows better weed.
