experimental - grow box build in planning

Im calling on all tinkerers and experimenters to help me with my next grow which out of necessity will encorporate some perhaps rather novel approaches for the sake of ultimate stealth while also attempting to maximize yield.

I have so far found some plastic rubbermaid style tubs which i think can serve as my modular self contained grow box units which are also stackable.

Here are my preliminary specs and requirements:

1. stackable plastic storage containers with an average dimension of cm35x53x39 or about 12inches deep, 16inches wide/broad and 15 inches high (inside dimensions)

2. battery operated led lights probably 1 to 3 watt each with numbers increasing through growth as needed to meet light requirements.Plans for such systems can be found on diy sites using rechargeable batteries in hot swappable packs. (proof of concept)
http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-plant-light-battery-powered/

3. strains which are good yielders and respond well to lst, topping, scrog etc to do well within small dimensions while growing dense and good yield.

So those are my prelim ideas. I have to do this because my living situation is no good for the kind of growing i need to do longterm but i have access to a storage area not far away where i will have all day access with almost no scrutiny, making that location far preferrable.

So if anyone would like to contribute to helping refine this project i would be very gratefull.

Can i get a decent yield in scrog with one plant per container and what maximum yield could one achieve in a super soil with minimum amendments during growth?

Sorry for the vague setup its a work in progress.....and as the title says, definitel1y an exp

I would find somewhere else or skip the idea until you have a suitable space. I know it's not what you want to hear but the obstacles are massive!

Charging up battery packs every day for a whole 3 months+... running fans and a carbon filter off batteries... the thought of it is giving me a headache!

Of course it can be done... but it would be cheaper and less hassle to just buy the stuff.

If you really wanted to do it you need to look into a couple of 12V caravan batteries plus a 12V ->240V power inverter. Say you got 2x 110Ah batteries... so 220Ah of power. That's 2.64KWh.

A 125W CFL would use 3kWh per 24 hours of "on time" so you'd have to change/charge the batteries every single day. So you'd need another 2 spare batteries to take home when you drop off the charged ones. You're looking at hundreds of $$ just to run a 125W CFL.

The cost and hassle would be huge for very little end result. The security implications of running in a "storage area" are also massive.

loftygoals.....of course youre right.....but i have to do this as there will be no other alternatives for the forseeable future. At the end of this month when i get paid ill be mocking up my prototype to see if it will even work with just one unit and go from there. If its a catastrophic failure ill call it quits.....but if i can squeeze our even a small popcorn bud harvest ill cinsider it a success.

As to the battery thing....im going to try 3 watt leds each connected to 3 D dells wired in series. If i can even just keep a few in veg for a while until i find a better place to flower them that will already be very valuable.....shit who knows maybe ill just grow them to a size and health where i can transplant them outside somewhere guerilla style......summer is almost here and i could get a jump start on it by prepping some babkes for a stealth outside harvest. Im exploring all options at this point.....but simply not doing or trying is not an option as i need access to oure quality meds for my medical issues.......if it was only for recreation i probly would not be so driven.

Thanks alot for the input and the calculations :)

another question if i may......there are D cell recharchable batteries rated at 10,000 mAh and i need to figure out how long 3 of those in series would run a single 3 watt led at full power/brightness before needing to be swapped out......i dont have a head for math so if you could help me figure that out id be very appreciative :)

In the indoor growing forum, theres a sub forum for micro growing. Might be worth a look if you havent already. People come up with some cool shit for small spaces.

3 batteries are 30,000 mAh = 30Ah

Rechargeable D cells are 1.25V

So 30Ah * 1.25V = 37.5Wh

37.5Wh / 3w = 12.5 hours

thanks man thats awesome and gives me a bit more confidence this crazy thing could actually work, if clumsily. The only other issue i would have potentially is odor control but then i could choose strains which are known to be low odor in flower.....more research to be done

thanks for the math
