exp auto grower wanting to grow reg femmed seeds

I have grown every auto nirvanna seeds offers. I have never been impressed with the high. So now im going to grow just femmed seeds. My major problem is i have to only use a 150w hps because of energy costs. What strains would do fairly well with 18/6 in a 5g bubble bucket using non autos? i wouldnt expect more than an oz or two at most dried. i have two buckets ready to go and a closet with a grounded plug inside it. the closet it roughly 15 feet left to right and 5 feet front to back. door is in the middle. ceiling is 12 feet.

so many seeds available just dont know what two seeds i need to start with. thanks so much for reading this post.

It's all cannabis, close your eyes and pick one out. Your lack of stronger lighting has more to do with your yield than any strain does.

Some of the first photo's I grew were Female Seeds Pure AK, which is a decent smoke I have folks asking me to grow it again tolerance build up on this strain had me smoking way to much plant matter to get "right". Vision Seeds Northern Lights and Big Bud all I would say average smoke at best, Big bud I would even consider below average. These were fairly fast finishers as well, 7.5-8.5 weeks. I think I grew some White widow but I don't know if I finished it or not? Lol. Couldn't have been very good if I did. All of these produce a very generous yield. AK probably being the best, I didn't weigh but I think I got about a 3.5-4 oz off a single 3 gallon plant. My huge curing jar was full to the top.

If you're looking for something potent and racy find some Og Grape Krypt seeds or some other DNA strains, they got some nice frosty plants. EmDog from HSO has a real nice taste, and the stone seems pretty decent it's got me rambling like a mofo this morning. I didn't do the plant justice either, it was cut early and had nutrient issues hoping to run the clones again and get a better end product.

BUT I don't live in Cali, my expectations are lower then some I'd like to point that out

last good smoke i had was expensive but the effect was right on. it was lemon kush but didnt taste like lemons. tried mango kush and omg it tasted soooo good. thinking about trying one strain of some kush and still deciding on other. thanks for the suggestions its really helpful to hear of what suggestions yall are giving.

Just pick any indica. There is very little difference growing photo's to there is growing autos. About a timers worth of difference.

Yeah you will want to flower those on 12/12 All strains do very well vegging on 18/6

since im not worried about space issues with cabs ( only exp i have) how long should i veg? i dont want to hurry this grow. i want to get all i can from each strain.

unless you're going to LST or Scrog, then due to your light, i would not veg for too long.

I wouldn't run a se-ed plant to finish if all I had was150 watts. You'll get very little light penetration on a plant of decent height.

To get an ounce or two w/ that amount of light, you'll need to make your grow space much smaller - 2 ft x 2 ft x 4 ft ht is likely more space than that lamp will effectively light.

Try this, if you can: purchase a 105 watt cfl 'bright white' bulb and a standard shop light fixture - $40 max from Amazon. At the opposite end of your closet, set up a veg and clone area w/ the cfl, and start your fem beans - maybe TH Se-eds A-Train and FS C-99. Both are easy grows and fast finishers. Veg, and take clones. When they have rooted, put them immediately in your bloom area @ 12 / 12. You'll get plants that finish short, and you can jam many in your flowering space - aka SOG.

It'll take an extra couple of weeks to get clones, but then you're in business as long as you keep the moms alive.

yeah thats what i was thinking. a 150w hps isnt for monster plants

im planning to make a veg area and a a flower area with panda film most likely. i realize the light is for a 4x4 area at most. i heard mothers cant be grown in dwc. is this bullshit?

Yes it is bullshit. I think maybe what they meant was it wasn't a good idea. As you will be keeping a mother for a long period yes? so dwc will be a pain to manage for a long period of time IMO

Subcool doesn't keep moms, and he's a professional breeder, he takes healthy clones before he flowers his other plants. If I am mistaken maybe someone can correct me, but I am pretty sure he said that on the weednerd.

ahh never thought of that. i might do that till i find a strain that i wanna stick with and grow a mother. id love to learm more about that tek

Some say that cloning like this will lose vigor, but some seem to make it work, it could be strains. It could very well be some folks have a bad batch of clones and lose vigor that way. Who knows.

im thinking cutting clones from vegging plants is a good way to see if i like cloning. if i get into it ill keep a mother and scrog with a multi site dwc

With a limited light you should research growing in cans...no joke. Multiple clones can be run in a perpetual grow with plenty of bud to suffice.

ive never grown in soil. every grow was in dwc. i find hydro easy to manage but open to new things. ill look thru the forums and see what ppl are doing
