Examples of GOP Leadership

I have a different take. I’ll trust career prosecutors saying this one would be iffy in court.

That suggests to me that they are working on surer things. The people they’ve lately been placing under subpoena is actually fairly encouraging.
I wish i was encouraged...
One thing i've observed my entire life, people forget shit...they forget some things faster than others, but time is the enemy of justice.
Time gives the criminal the opportunity to normalize their crime, to make it seem like less of a crime, to build public support in their favor, to obfuscate the facts, to bury evidence, to buy off potential witnesses...
It gives the public the opportunity to forget their outrage, to have it blunted by being shared with other outrages.
The longer it takes to get trump and his seditious cohorts to trial, the more time they have to prepare, legally and illegally...

I agree that there is value in having a brisk pace. However all I have is what makes it to and through selected media, plus the analyses here that fill out the entire quality spectrum.

So I’m impatient too, but it is tempered by awareness of ignorance.
In the worst case, we have 22+ months before the next turnover of elected officials might endanger the processes currently being uhm prosecuted.

Nikki Haley's pres. run,man I remember a time when her 180 on Trump, her pre election "he's unfit" to her post election support, all on record would automatically doom any chance of gaining office again or at the least a decade out of politics to rejuvinate her image. Same goes for Rubio,Graham, and others, really depressing sign of the times when 180's were seen as a serious character fault in which the total loss of trust w/voters actually mattered.

They pander to the lowest common denominator...About a third of their base are the trashiest of white trash, the most militant of the militia morons, the stupidest people in the entire country. Another third are barely better, they may put on a civil face in public but get them excited, worked up in a crowd, and there's no way you could differentiate between them and the worst third. The last third are semi normal people who still have racist fears, who are borderline religious zealots, who swallowed at least one sip of the koolaid...who will support a fascist because they think that will keep things "the same"...

Signals. Whenever Media uses that word I wonder how the signal came? Flag, Telegraph..blinking eyes in Morse code?

What happened to the word 'announces'? Is 'signals' a kinder, gentler version of zero content, no platform?
I think it was their not-very-good way of saying that women are more prominent in the party, that being the “new direction”. Fished in!

seems to be their way of saying they don't have an acceptable male candidate, except for desantis, and i think they're as afraid of him as they are of trump...they want to win, but i think mcconnell and the other "thought leaders" don't want to deal with another trumpenstein monster, and see desantis as exactly that. I'm not sure at this point if they will endorse desantis or not, and if not, then they have fuck all viable alternatives...not that desantis is really all that viable, to anyone who isn't a magat.

That man’s revenge: every visible potential candidate is a raging maga. Expect culture war one-upmanship in place of a campaign.

They use the word 'signal' with everything and I don't get it- Haley announced that she is running for president 2024..there! I said it!

C'mon men! You can say it! It's just like jumping into a very cold lake..

Edit: Don't worry men, she's not going to be president.

something I do not do on general principle …

as for the other thing, it’s fully reversible, especially with a friend’s help.

wouldn't it have been awesome if that law was in place, and trump failed it spectacularly? multiple times? :)
on reflection — I’m ambivalent.

Only time will tell, but I consider the idea scary plausible that by ripping the mask of decency off the Republican Party, he really peed in their punch bowl.

So without belittling the damage he did, I am growing convinced that had the GOP not been so rudely outed by his chaotic narcissism, they might have pulled it off, and currently be consolidating the overthrow. I must consider that his doing what he did might lead to the better long-term outcome for us the people.

It is daily more apparent that Republicans were gunning for the death of government by/for/of the people. They’re still trying, and their residual momentum tells me they pretty much had it in the bag when, out of left field — the bankruptcy artist snatched defeat from the jaws of tyranny.
