Please, show me how that’s “real criticism” of my “complaint” about a well-worn wrong-wing myth
Oh, I'm sorry, did I upset you with my positive views?

I'm not a cynic. I can see how a cynic like you might reject a positive viewpoint without a thought but that is a stultifying way to view the world that I reject. I saw 80 million people vote to save our democracy in 2020 and focused on that instead of the minority who didn't.

4% isn't a huge majority....https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/06/30/behind-bidens-2020-victory/
nothing wrong with being positive, but i for one intend to keep an eye on the doings of the republicans...call that cynicism if you want to.

Fox News, at apex of 'ecosystem of disinformation,' faces potential legal comeuppance

Jeremy Peters, media and politics reporter for The New York Times, and David Plouffe, former Obama campaign manager, about the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News, for which Rupert Murdoch is sitting for a two-day deposition, and the corrosive effect Fox News has had on U.S. politics and Murdoch's media empire has had on politics around the world.

I call it recency bias. Bagginski is saying we've never been a democracy. He's not wrong, just not altogether right.

Republicans have underperformed Democrats in national elections 6 years in a row. Where you see a small margin in favor of Democrat and Bagginski sees some conspiracy to keep the people under The Man's thumb, I see a trend in this country away from what had been 200 years of white power. I don't think any of the three of us is wrong. Bagginski has a point. I just don't agree that because the far left has no chance that means democracy has been defeated.

I see the trend as going in a good direction for our nation's democracy. Although Democrats have outperformed expectations over Republicans over the past three national elections, I've been very nervous about the past two elections. I didn't think our democracy would survive another four years of Trump. But he didn't win in 2020 and Republicans were foiled again in 2022. They have one more grab at the throat of democracy in 2024 and then the national demographic shift will make it so that elections will no longer be as close as you say. After 2024, it will go harder and harder for them each election after that.

I’m curious to know what you mean by the far left. My reference points: European-style social democrats are moderate left, socialists who seek the collectivization of the means of production etc. I grade as the far left. Afaik there are no socialists in office in US, but I haven’t looked hard.

If the democrats can gain the presidency, house and senate, then other measures like HR-1, voting rights, anti domestic terrorism laws and new FCC powers help accelerate that trend. So could statehood for DC and Puerto Rico and other measures including educational ones could be implemented, civics and history for starters. These along with generational changes in the white population exposed to the internet and broader culture can aid the demographic changes ongoing.

Change can happen faster than many think, once a tipping point is reached, because social and technological change has gotten ahead of political change, which has remained static for some major issues. The reason the courts have so much power is because of legislative failure to address these issues, because of legislative gridlock caused by the republican's lack of interest in solving problems or realistic solutions.

The best indication they are losing is they need to lie, cheat and steal to win, resorting to domestic terrorism and violence. Conservativism is at an ideological and economic dead end and has been replaced by fascism, trickle down economics is not popular and neither is extremist rhetoric. They are on the losing side of history and know it, America should not just hang on until the population changes though, but fight to get there, because things are close enough to be dangerous.

We have communists in this country too -- not Stalinist - Leninist types -- but more like the Socialist Democrats and Mensheviks of the Russian Revolution. People who believe both in socialism with workers in control of the means of production and democratic government. Bagginski is somewhere in that direction to the left. There aren't many of them but there are a number of them.

i don't think democracy has been even close to defeated, but it is still under attack.
i see the trend as a good thing as well, but i'd be a lot more comfortable if it grew, quickly.
i hope you're 100% right, but i'm not sure they're going to give up that quickly. i think there's a very good chance the democrats can get a majority in both the house and the senate, which will make it much easier to start the ball rolling. campaign finance transparency laws, gerrymandering rules,
ethics codes with real consequences...it's easy to counter the kindergarten crew, once you pry the reigns out of their grubby little hands.

I find it difficult to not be skeptical. That woman has every right to think what she wants and her friend is dead. So, RIP Diamond and I'm sorry for your loss, ma'am. So, she can think and say whatever she likes.

The network OTOH, bears a responsibility to the people who are misled by their broadcasts.

Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN)

  • Overall, we rate Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) right biased and Questionable based on the promotion of conspiracy theories, right-wing propaganda, the use of poor sources, and failed fact checks.
Then again, MAGA is a death cult. What do they care if others die from their deceptions?

FWIW:
Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill tweeted: "Diamond - of the right-wing, Trump-loving duo Diamond and Silk - has died. In late November, she was hospitalized due to COVID-19. The duo was fired by Fox News a couple of years ago for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines. You cannot script this stuff."

I don't know if what he's saying is true. but I put it up there to balance what the Spice and RSBN said, who are known to spread misinformation.

Diamond was antivax. MTG is demanding an investigation into a vaccine Diamond didn't get?

They voted for the party of do nothing and no big guberment water projects, or anything and now they are running out of water. Kevin wants to be speaker, it consumes all his time and he doesn't give a fuck about these suckers. Republicans don't solve problems, they create them, sometimes out of thin air, and that is about all they do. How does shutting down the government help these people?

It makes be think AI could do better than republicans at governing...
it makes me think that Lucky could do a better job..lucky was a mangy (really) mutt dog i adopted from an alley years ago.
he had 3 legs, one eye, and half a tail...and you could count his ribs like a xylophone...he walked into walls, stumbled over his own feet, and stunk no matter how many times you washed him...and i have no doubt he could have done at least as good a job as 90% of the republican party.

not Lucky, but damn close...make this guy black and white and that's my Lucky
