Ever called out when buying supplies?

one time i rember going into lowes looking for HID bulbs, and i had a few basic questions that i wanted to ask. The first employee that i talked to, without missing a beat he firmly asked me "what are you using those for?" I didn't think up a response to use in that situation but without hardly thinking about it i orchestrated and elaborate story about a science experiment i was doing for my botany class and needing a light powerful enough that i could have a control group that would be in the same environment for the entire year while the other plants weathered the seasons. It was beautiful, i must have been in some completely different mindstate because generally i would have stuttered and probably just walked away, haha.

someone that i work with approached me about it one night and said that the person who i talked to initially was a cop or something like that. I don't know how accurate my memory is of what she told me, though. It still wigged me out a little bit.

Are you implying that cops are now posing as Lowes employees ..... hanging out in the lighting department at Lowes waiting for customers to come in and purchase PERFECTLY LEGAL light bulbs on the assumption that they are to be used for growing marijuana? Do they have a guy working the soil department too?

I seriously doubt there is ANY truth to that.... sounds like a stoner tale that gets taller with every telling.

I'm so fucking old (and bald) it don't ever cross their minds, ever. I tell the cashier "I'm growin dope" and they just laugh at me!!

If you think about though, that girl that called you out, she probably had a garden of her own. Maybe she wanted to trade technology?

Yea I'm gonna have to agree. If they were busting every dude buying a legal 400 watt system, then they'd also be on this forum busting every closet grower through their IP, which clearly isn't happening. They don't have the resources to bother with shit like that (thankfully).

The only important question in this situation is was she hot? Because that changes the answer and the tone completely.

I am guessing she wasn't since you took such a harsh view of her though.

I was also called out when collecting 5 gal buckets at work. My stock & trade answer is that they are for growing Egyptian Okra, Of Course! F--k'em for being nosy.

Well, this i the tall tale that every one is watching US(as in the community of growers)[my quote button does not work ] constantly. paranoid people give them self away. when some one calls me out for what i am buying a laugh at the joke and respond back, why you want some if i am. no but for the record no undercover cop is going to be watch inside of any store for particular material being bought. for one that is illegal, and 2 cops ,even though this might sound completely untrue, have better things they rather do, like writing tickets or something. so relax and roll with the punches

no but be careful when leaving certain hydro shops, I have seen police sitting down the street profiling people as they leave. If it wasnt for the fact that I do not grow anymore, I wouldn't drive my personal car to the shop, or any car registered to the house I was growing in.

If you walk into the hydro shop and spending 2k without batting an eye, driving a escalade on 22"s, and they have been watching the shop, theyre def. gonna check you out when u leave. I have also heard about hydro shops being pressured.

hydro shop is one thing, home depot or a garden center is another. Yes they could watch the hydro store but they cant watch a hydro store online now can they.

actually yeah they can if they really wanted to... I think people under estimate the possiblities, but at the same time over estimate the reality in which theyre living... lol
The facts are there, they can track w/e they want, CC purchases, orders youre making from websites. But you have to remember, you would have to draw attention to yourself. Talking about what you grow, even to your friends is a bad idea.

ya how many people are their in the world. and how many credit cards are processed by actual people who use they hydros systems and products for actual hydro gardens and such not pertaining to cannabis. they would suspcet them too. now if u are under surveillance that is a completely differnet story but they cant just check your shit out just cause they have to go threw proper channels(child of a retired d.e.a. )

I've never been called out.....but dont think the 'Mind your own fuckin business' response kinda gives off an 'i dont want you to know' kinda vibe and theres probably a reason for that. I mean i know if i was working at home depot and someone was asking me questions about shit and i asked what they were growing and they said mind your own fuckin business i would be even more inclined to think that are you growing pot than like tomatoes or something.

and if they do ever ask....what can you tell them you are growing that has similar growing characteristics like lighting and nutes?

:hump:lol I would like to be in the next isle and watch that!:hump:
I'm pretty carful at what I buy at one time. I'll buy some stuff today and the rest of what I need the next. But just act normal! Like what they said is a joke. Just say I wish! You don't know what the old lady got me into now! Like she voluntered you for something at school!

My stock answer is that I have no idea. Especially when I'm looking for something specific and they ask what is it for? I have no idea buddy, my wife told me to buy some gardening shit for her flowers. And then I look at them like that was a stupid question, I'm tired of shopping and now just give me my fucking answer.

My non-existent wife gets blamed for a lot.
