Ethos "Thug Roze" meets the Gavita Pro LED's............

So, regarding the new Gavita's, they are impressive. They are foldable, can be dimmed to a lower point than the 1700's, they use new Gavita developed diodes and drivers, and have better light output and efficiency.

But they use 800 watts (vs. 645 from the 1700's) and are approx. $1700 (vs. $1230 or less for the 1700's)...........

I'm disappointed they did not incorporate UV-A into the fixture. They sell a UV-A fixture that will fit in the unit I think. I have 8-10 months to decide, hopefully they'll be heavily reviewed in that time.

I agree,they seem expensive over the 1700 and the 25% increase in electric Is hardly a good selling point at the moment,neither is the cost of the EL3 controller @ $920
as you say there will be many reviews,it would only need a relatively small uplift in yield/quality to make it worthwhil.

By the way, $920 for a controller is absolutely crazy...........

but the geeks will want them & pay,just so they can control everything via a smartphone,from afar.
a gen 2 controller for the gav 1700 & 2 Adapters would be approx 900 so not much difference in price. the adapters on the new pro rs are built in.
I have the gen 2 controller,I got it for virtually nothing,but the adapters were 150 each,it doesn’t do much that a 10 timer & a 15 temperature probe wouldn’t do.sunrise/sunset I’ve heard is apparently worthless,whilst it also supposedly operates at reduced power,not much to like so far. If I had a time machine i would Make a different decision.
Anyway Sshz are there any updates from the grow room?

i own the EL2 and 2 adapters and never used them……tried to sell them very cheap on eBay and didn’t get one bite.

I just turned the lights off so I can’t go in but not much to report. I have my granddaughters (twins) 1st birthday tomorrow, so the room is on its own tomorrow. Tomorrow night with lights out, I plan on doing a preventative spraying. Not sure at this point what I’m using, it’s between my homemade spraying discussed earlier, or the PureCrop or the Monterey spray.

Past that, everything is healthy and doing well. The Super Skunk are in there now too, so it’s just a big waiting game. Day 9 today in flowering.

Day 12 in flowering……..I sprayed last night, they came thru it like champs.

What spray did you end up using.

My “old timers” spray, but I see I did it a little late as flowering was just beginning and since it was oil based, plants that had some very early budding didn’t take to it well. I normally always do it at day 10, this time it was day 12- just a bit late. The plants looked like shit yesterday, today they are improving. In a week, we won’t even notice anything happened.

Look at the pic above, and check out the back row. You can tell something is going on. I also may have sprayed too heavily, as I actually hit them twice. This has happened before, and they always bounce back quickly but I should know better by now.

are you still pulling leaf’s daily or do you let them recover a day or 2 from the spraying?

I haven’t pulled for a day or two, just to keep their stress down from the spraying but I just went in and the room bounced back nicly………I’ll probably pull some more after dinner.

Enlarged the picture for a better view.......still too many leaves at this point and I’ll need to remove more in the coming days. This isn’t all about having as many tops as possible- it’s also about opening up so light can get to the lower depths, so there’s nice bud growth down below. It all comes back to removing larger leaves that block light below.

Good advice…will you do another hard defoliation around day 21?

A little different perspective from above……..it helps me pick out the largest leaves.

I’ve pushed people curious about defoliation to view Irie Seeds Rasta Jeff’s podcast on defoliation, it’s excellent. Ethos also has a great write up on their website about it. I’m at day 12 in flowering, I think I still need to remove a lot of leaves, like now or tomorrow. But for sure, it’s a constant process throughout flowering. I think a “hard” defoliation will come later on.

it’s also worth mentioning I haven’t seen much of any stretch on this strain. For a strain that grows tall and few leaves, I’m not so sure the breeders description is all that accurate.

You doesn't waste any space for sure. Lack of stretch will hurt yield I assume. Like I said before you have everything covered. Plus you are a good teacher.

still,I dont think it beats looking at these before and after defoliation pictures to see just what can be removed and gotten away with.
Although these now,12-13 days after your first defoliation don’t look like they have ever seen a pair of scissors,all that leafage,back with a vengeance
