Elons Little Plan

Twitter chronicles Elon's litany of errors, and he paid $44 billion for this? I think ego was leading Elon around by the nose on this one and his hubris is on full display now! Some in the business say he paid twice as much as what it was worth and since he injected himself into it, ad revenue has plunged and eventually the users will walk away, unless he moderates the platform.

Elon Musk tells followers to vote for Republican congressional candidates
Elon Musk on Monday encouraged “independent-minded voters” to cast their ballots for Republicans in Tuesday’s midterm congressional contests as a check on President Biden.

“To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

“Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!” he added.

Musk closed his deal to buy Twitter late last month and has signaled he will relax content moderation on the site after a “council” reviews the platform’s current policies, raising alarm among civil rights groups who believe the changes will cause an increase in misinformation and hate speech on Twitter.

A new version of Twitter’s rules under Musk’s ownership published on Monday appeared to remove some policies in place ahead of the midterm elections, including labeling “misleading information” and directing users to information about voting with “prebunks.”
The new rules, however, do state that users cannot use Twitter “for the purpose of manipulating or interfering in elections or other civic processes.”

Musk has previously indicated he voted for President Biden in 2020 and that he donated to and voted for 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party,” Musk tweeted in May. “But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold.”

In June, Musk called billionaire and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Rick Caruso (D) “awesome,” adding that the city is “fortunate” to have him running in the election. Caruso, a former Republican, is running against Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.).
“It is rare for me to endorse political candidates,” Musk said at the time. “My political leanings are moderate, so neither fully Republican nor Democrat, which I am confident is the case for most Americans.”

Since taking over Twitter, Musk has railed against activists pressuring advertisers to halt business with the social media platform.

Last week, Musk sparred with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) over the Tesla CEO’s plans to verify users for $8 per month.
“Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually a $8/mo subscription plan,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
“Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8,” Musk responded.

Elon says vote for Herschel and all the other nut cases and fascists among them, Elon endorses them all!
Buying Twitter for Elon is like what winning the presidency did for Trump!

shared power works that way when both parties want it to work at all...the republicans use it to obstruct every fucking thing democrats want to do, simply because democrats want to do it. it's been proven time and again, they vote against the best interests of their constituents as much or more than they vote for them.

There are not that many yokels and low IQ types on Twitter as in real life, there are more "liberals" however and those who care about politics and their country's future, more college educated people. If he wants ad revenue, then he had better not alienate these people, Twitter is a global company too and other countries might take a dim view of Elon promoting fascism and disinformation.

The "both sides are the same" lie presented by Elon, who seems to overlook a lot of facts.

Everyone should take advice from Putin's Useful Idiot after he made a $44B mistake. His advice probably has nothing to do with labor unions or his cost of labor. Afterall, look how successful in business he is, just like those guys in Congress.

Methinks the master of the universe fucked up, has been caught by his ego and is descending into hubris.

Did Elon Musk spend Monday morning:
A) Advising voters to support a specific party in Tuesday’s elections
B) Tweeting a “joke” based on a picture of a Nazi soldier
C) Slamming social media network Mastodon with a masturbation joke
D) All of the above
Yep. It’s D.

That’s all within the same timespan that Musk also threatened advocacy groups with a lawsuit because he’s lost advertising. Which …

Advertisers have made clear that they need to see stable, competent leadership to have faith in spending their money at Twitter, and this ain’t it. This is Musk broadcasting that yes, he is turning the platform into a right-wing one.

Musk’s election endorsement is now his pinned tweet, driving home that this isn’t one of his passing fancies. “To independent-minded voters,” he wrote. “Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.”

Back in June, mind you, Politico reported that Musk was “leaning” toward Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, as his preferred 2024 presidential candidate. And go figure, he’s not advising Florida voters to vote for Democratic state legislators in the name of divided government.

The guy isn’t just a Republican, he’s a Republican who embraces far-right memes and cozies up to neo-Nazis. All while insisting he’s “independent-minded.” Honestly, if I could require a single thing from white supremacist alt-righters (besides that they stop being white supremacist alt-righters) it would be that they f’ing admit what they are. It’s a real show of pride in your beliefs when you go around posting them for hundreds of millions of people to see and then refuse to own them.

The juxtaposition of Musk’s tweets is useful, though. Hey, independent voters, the guy who just tweeted that meme featuring a Nazi soldier thinks you should vote for Republicans.

just when you think it's safe to say he couldn't come up with a worse plan, he comes up with a worse plan...
i think this might really be the thing that sinks him, he invested heavily in this, and convinced some pretty shady motherfuckers to invest in it with him, if he loses them billions, they might decide to make mr. musk a non person...

there's a lot of Saudi money in that deal...they aren't historically noted for their humanitarian response to people losing large sums of money for them.

Ha, the onion beat me to it.

All that money can't buy the respect of the people. He sort of touched it, he was well revered when he pulled off tesla finally being able to run a production line, but was an angry bitter nerd by that point so just fumbled. If you ever watched the show "futureman," Musk is Stu.

I'm surprised Musk doesn't start tweeting about Chad taking all his chick's.

They paid a max of what 44 billion? What is that, a quarter or two of oil sales that they jacked up the price for screwing us with?

If they can use Musk to bring the Republicans back in power in 2024, they really will more than make up for that upfront investment, even if Twitter is bankrupted.
