I've met Eddy a few times. Smoked with him too. IMO, the guy made a HUGE mistake in growing so many plants in plain sight. I know he's a martyr and all ... but geeze, louise! I think he had something like 36,000 plants all growing at the same time, most of which, could be seen from the road. I hope he gets off ... it definately would be good for the cause.

Sounds like he wasn't the brighest bulb in the pack. One brick short of a full load. Half a bubble off. The lights were on but nobody was home.

it was a community garden. county regulates how many plants per patient but doesn't go into how many patients per garden. it was all legit by county regulatios. there are grey areas that need to be filled in. i think this is what he was really trying to say. i grew 20+ plants in my backyard legally last year. sheriff copter flew over everyday, never bothered me. what if every neighbor within a 1 mile radius of me, just by some coincidence, did the same thing? county limit is thirty plants.

1996 pro 215 approved by 53% of the state. the plant limit is set by the state but can be modified per county.

That would only pertain to medical marijuana users growing. Not anybody that wants to. The greedy exploit the grey areas and screw it up for everybody.

There are strict guidelines in place. Anyone that doesn't stay within those is breaking the law and putting medical marijuana at risk for the rest of us who do follow the rules.

Guess what greed is the reason most of the time that people break the rules. Yeap it usually boils down to the pocketbook and some people's obsession with money.

Quality of life is more important than money. But it seems that only time can teach some people that lesson.

i really don't think eddy was in such of riches. this once again was a community garden for medical patients only. some people can't afford to pay 60$ a day for there medication. some people live in locations that are not "grow freindly". eddy was attempting to provide a safe secure enviroment for these people. they donated their own time in labor and funding to do something the state said was ok. they don't drive hummers and sport the big grillzz.

There are people who will try and exploit anything if they can make a few fast dollars. That is just the way people are. You read constantly about medical marijuana patients who get busted with way over the legal limit. In most of those cases they are selling their extra instead of donating it back to where it is needed. Greed dictates most human behavior. Just read the number of posts from people who grow to sell not just to have their own smoke.

now, to talk about exploit. this was a certain cartal that took over northern california this year possibly north also. clear cutting mountain sides. 20,000-40,000 plant crops. yes those #s are correct. $s into the billions!! these crops were all over. i was reading about a new one darn near everyday in the paper. these are the issue the need to be addressed first. eddy still has his garden. he just moved indoors and went solar. the feds know. he's legit. they just didn't like the idea of him exposing his cause to the general public along side a major highway.

Eddy was legal according to state and county law ... BUT, he was pushing the issued right into the face of Big Brother ... and you know how Big Brother is; Threaten their control and they will threaten you back. Problem is, they have way more guns and power than we do.

Also, Mogie hit on the greed factor and he's right. There are gangs in San Francisco who are making millions off of pot by claiming that its for medical purposes when its not. And those who are growing the thousands of plants on federal land are no better. They are criminals who hurt the cause for all 0f us.

ok i gonna say it.i truly believe it's time the government opens it's doors. it would pretty much CLEAR california of it's debt. just my opinion.

He was not legal if he was growing on property other then his own. Your quote "they just didn't like the idea of him exposing his cause to the general public along side a major highway". That is illegal to grow on public property. Keep it legal folks.

private property!! land owner. highway ran above his property looking down. once again HE WAS TOTALLY LEGAL!!! how hard is that to understand. he's not a drug dealer. he's not a criminal trespassing and guerrilla farmer. he is one who believes in what WE are doing. and is not hiding behind fear and paranoia. the state has given california the right to grow. he was within state guidelines. the federal government took him BECAUSE he took a stand.
he is trying to open new doors and for this he faces 3 life sentences. they are trying to used him as a example. once AGAIN he is still legally growing for his cause, he just moved indoors. this has been an ongoing story in high times and my local paper.

Was he within his legal grow limit (amount) remember this quote "I think he had something like 36,000 plants all growing at the same time". So is 36,000 plants the legal limit in California?

i'm not sure of the plant count allowed at that time. at one point it was 99 mature adult females per patient. now this does not include plants in veg stage, clones, seedlings that haven't even been sexed yet. these all go into the plant count. it's the feds #s.(32,512) they probably counted germinating seeds.
