Just got a used Q Max 315 EC fan running it with their own brand new EC fan controller and it has a motor whine, not bad at 30 percent but quite loud at 50 percent power. is this normal for these fans? Thanks for any help.
Yeah I expected silence tbh, it is used tho so maybe some fuckery going on. Fan was £180 which is a great price for this its a beast, but uh not if its not 100 percent. The controller was £35 I think. What price was yours what size is it?honestly im not sure i just purchased a spider farmer inline fan with a EC motor and it has no whine at all no matter if its dialed down or at full speed its silent!!! the only thing i hear is the air moving. but maybe your's just does that naturally i have no idea. i hope someone with a Q max fan can chime in.
also if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for it?
No it's definitely the fan, it's not even connected to any ducting yet.Venting and routing can cause excessive noise
Mine has something to do with the electricity, when I turn the electricity on it whines, if its still spinning fast and I've turned the electricity off there's no whine. It also whines with no speed controller so it's not the speed controller either, it's got to be the motor. My ac infinity fans are EC motor and they whine at certain speeds, im gonna test bigger carbon filter cause i was using smaller one which had capacity to level 5/10. As i tried restricting airflow by bending duct attached only whine also showed. Maybe thats your case ? I use EU converter for them. So we are in this together
Edit OK i saw that you have whine without anything attached. It can be unblanaced blades or something. If u are gonna use it still, try to isolate duct from the fan - something rubbery attached to duct etc to dampen vibrations (whining can be low frequency)
