In my opinion its not enough medium. pics? trying to wrap my mind around 3 gallon buckets with 6 in net pots for ebb & gro... only time iv ever used that combo was 5 gallon buckets-6" net pots and it was a RDWC system. There is moister trapped but its RISKY! you have a minor surge and you miss a watering your toast...

Well....

I use both bubblers (dwc) and Ebb and grow system. When your bubbler nute soup gets low, which tends to happen rapidly as you approach later flower period, the root mass can dry out quickly. Matter of fact I have this beautiful Purple Cole in a five gallon bubbler using a 6 inch net pot. The lady was stressing about something, leaves were kinda droopy and all so I refilled water line maybe a little over half a gallon. I telll ya the next day that lady perked right back up. The DWC system is designed to only have 2 to 3 inch miosture space between water level and net pot.

If I am understanding you, you will have a 5 gallon bucket with about 12 inches of roots sitting in in air with no moisture being added except every 4 to 6 hours. I would think the roots will dry out too much. This might be asking problems with root rot or other nasty stuff that we dont wanna get into. Also the above comment is correct...miss one cycle and your ladies are toast!

Hope this was insightful....
