earth worms in soil?

you are thinking about this the wrong way, worms don't care how much nutrients are in the soil, that's what they do, is break down organic material.
go for redworms, those are the most tolerant of heat. Nightcrawlers do not like heat, nor do they like containers, the best container to use for worms is the fabric pots.
they absolutely do not eat your roots.

peat is a superior base to use over coco, the CEC is much better, to counter the ph is easy, add crab meal, biochar, oyster flour, and oyster shells.
 
Nothing but good luck with red worms in compost rich soil. They go from noodle sized to pinky sized in 8 weeks. And the plants seem to love it. I do however pick the big ones out before re-using the soil as they start to take up space.
