Dynagro Promix Growers Thread

Hello all. What initially started as a question about PHing with pro mix has evolved into a semi grow journal on mixing Promix BX with DG Foliage Pro. I've grown with DG for a year or two, however I usually used Happy Tree frog soil. If you are using DG FP, or you are just curious about a simple one part nutrient formula that works, feel free to stay awhile and listen. I'm by no means a wizard with promix; in fact this will be my first grow with it. If you're a DG user, feel free to share your grow/knowledge or just lurk a bit.

Veg Day 8

Plants are recovering from the transplant and they are finally taking off again. One plant looks nice and green with very tight nodes. The other two got tall quick and are a little lime colored, but they are finally getting back to a semi normal wet/dry cycle. Drying out took 5 days after the transplant, but today they were finally nice and dry! Today was the first feed raising up to half strength for nutrients or 1/2 tsp FP per gallon. Normally I use 1/4 tsp per gallon through veg, but that's with extra nutrition from the soil. 1/2 tsp of FP came out to 280 PPM without counting the tap. If they show signs of burn, a simple fresh water feeding and lowering a bit should fix them up. I also use 1/8th tsp of Protekt per gallon and PH to 6 just to be safe. Here they are pre water. I'll post again once they have a couple hours to dry. These plants are Sugar Cane photos from IHG.

Here they are today after having a night to dry out a bit. Note the left and middle are much perkier. The right one is still having a bit of trouble; perhaps I'll rotate them around.

Here is an update. The plants are looking much better and are really taking off! I'm a little unsure if the nutrients are a bit too strong as I'm seeing some light tips. I will probably top at the next feeding. I'm also keeping a close eye on the medium porosity as I'm feeding nutrients at every feeding which has me a bit concerned for salt buildup.

Been reading several of your posts, youre all over the place. Looking good this grow. I've had great success with happy frog and ocean forest. Pro mix seemed too bland for me, good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I've tried to slowly simplify over the last couple of years as too many variables added more potential causes of the issues. Starting with no nutrients in the medium itself and feeding each watering are two new steps I'm attempting for the first time. I don't really know anyone else who grows so here is where I go to get schooled and get better. Hopefully people here catch some things I'm sure I'll miss. Hopefully it will give people looking to give DG a go more information. I know I leaned hard on old Homebrewer threads to get me started on FP.

Veg 12
1 gal water
1/4 tsp Protekt per gallon
1/2 tsp FP per gallon
250 PPM no tap included
6.0 PH

Overall the look really solid overall. However, I feel 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) of FP might be too much for the plants at this stage. You can see slight burn on the new growth. I also believe the medium is getting a bit stiffer which could be tap sediment or salt buildup, or both. It's been 4 feedings straight, so I may run a gallon of fresh water through all of them and then another gallon of FP at like 1/4 tsp per gallon.

Here is a half update before the next feeding in a day or two. The plants are overall growing super fast. The only issue is some leaf curling on just the top of two of the plants. Since this could be several things, I decided to address as many as possible. The lights were moved up as high as they can go (light stress), the fan was reversed to now face the wall (wind stress), and the most likely cause, the root zone, will be flushed with a gallon or so of PHed distilled water in a day or 2, followed by a gallon of 1/4 strength FP. 1/4 TSP FP appears to be the goldilocks zone for veg. This is probably the 3rd or 4th grow I've had with DG where doing more than a 1/4 tsp started causing burn. The parts that are crispy won't recover, but the fact it's only the top leaves is pretty telling. Also finally did some LST as the one plant is already a fucking monster. Super tall, large, spread out branches with big fan leaves. The protekt has also made for some very strong branches and stems.
