DWC issues, ph? Over watered?

Hey guys,

I have a auto flower blueberry bliss, I transfered from peat pellet into a Dwc 5 gal bucket, I knew the roots wasn't long enough to reach the water so I just kept the water line close to the basket and keep the air stone running to mist the basket, we'll unfortunately I had to leave for a week and when I got back, this is what I came into, "pic should be attached", and it seems like its over watered, but what do you guys think?, is the peat holding water and causing this? Anyways let me know what you guys think, and here is just some general info below.

Autoflower: Blueberry bliss
Dwc
General hydro flora series, with flouracious plus, super thrive.
Grown with 2 t8 led tubes, and assortment of cfls and led bulbs for supplemental light, 6500k, 5000k, 3300k, and 2700k,
In a homemade reflective tent.
Ph in res is 5.8, with a temp of 79.
Highest temp within 24 hours was 82 in grow room.
I'm using tap water that has been set out to dechlorinate.

Let me know if I forgot anything.

ya you could rinse the peat away before you put it in the net pot.just into a bowl the peat will just float off.
wjats the water temp?

Ive used Rockwood with a feeder line ontop so cant see the peat doing this.Has to be too warm of water not enough oxygen in it.

How many airstones/how big of a pump? It takes a good flow to keep the water alive.

If your water is 79*, your plant above rock is most likely around 89*. This could be an issue. Also, warm temps in the water cause root rot, a slime that covers the roots and chokes them off.

Edit: I re-read your post, it looks like your water level is too low. If you have good water flow, let the root/rocks sit right down in the water. Sprinkling water on the outside rock is not going to do anything productive.

Edit: Also, change the water frequently. About 5-7 days is how long you want to use your water.

Also, leaving for a week at a time is asking for trouble.

I pulled the basket today just to see if the peat was dry, under the pebbles, and the peat pellet was soaked, fully saturated and yeah I grow in a small work building, so it can get really hot, so I went today and got a window ac unit for the building and I added in some hydrogen peroxide till I can get some hydro guard, or equvalent, I also got this same question posted up on another site and I'm getting split answers, some saying it needs to be left out to dry and some saying that I just need to take it out and hand water it till the roots could touch, but I think the peat pellet is causing a lot of issues, so I'm going to take your alls advice,

Lower temps
Remove peat pellet and put it straight into the basket with pebbles and hook up a top feed method, any other suggestions that could help, and thanks ahead of time guys, thanks!!!!.

frozen water bottle is all you need,water temp cant go past 72f.as long as the bubbles hit the net pot your good.
What happened was there was no oxygen in the water so the plant was drowning,over watered as you said.Frozen bottle and cover the lid so light cant heat it up.Could also move light farther away.Good luck,you can keep it in the peat.

So what your saying as long as the res temps stay at 72, and the bubbles actually touch the basket with the peat pellet it will be okay?

That awesome then, I was confused to what I was doing wrong, I was seeing so many different ways to do it, it's easy to get lost in the sea of dwc videos, you read that some people raises the water line to the first layer of pebbles and some say 1 inch below the basket and let the bubbles hit the basket, and that's the 1 I was trying to do, but it constant looked over watered, I had 2 stones in the bucket and it was still acting weird..... I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong...

Ideally below 70f. 68 is great number. good luck.
edit once the roots are in the water then the level can swing between top ups,say 2~3" below net.
they all will work,your problem was water was too warm.Fix that and it should be good..
