3 seeds from nirvana (papaya).

All planted straight into soil, under 125w cfl 24/7 for about 3 weeks.

1 was kept in soil and put under 600w mh 18/6 light cycle

The other 2 put in 5 gal dwc buckets, with fox farm nutrients stayed under the 125w cfl.

They were all put under 600 w hps 5 days ago

A few days into flower..
The differences are remarkable.

The hydro plants are much shorter with fatter leaves and thicker stems. They have an overall healthier look.

The 1 in soil is very tall with skinnier stems and smaller leaves. It also showed its sex earlier than hydro.

Conclusion: the cost was about double for the hydro, $100 compared to $50 and the results of the dwc are far better/ cleaner. The plants are shorter fatter heavier with better roots, smell stronger, all around higher quality.

I will post the final yield comparisons in about 2 months

Setups:
Hydro, 5 gal covered in foil, water pump with topfeed set to 5 mins every 3 hours (veg) 24/7 waterfall effect (flower) big bloom, tiger bloom, grow big, seedweed, spring water, pH around 6, hydroton, 6 in netpot, air pump/stone. Cost around $100

Soil, fox farm soil, perlite, earth worm castings, spring water, pH around 6, seedweed, grow big, 3 gal smartpot Cost around $50

I'm doing my first dwc now and soil cannot even come close competing in my opinion.

First photo is rdwc and second is soil and perlite. Both photos taken 9 days from sprouting

U guys are serious about ur pictures huh?I'll might try that glasses idea..but

.. just look at the 1st picture, You can see the clear difference in plant structure.

My whole point was the dwc produced more desirable results.

Day25 of flower and the dwc is killing the soil.

This was my first time doing dwc hydro buckets n it's super simple to get better results than soil.

Here's a photo, just look at the height and stem structure differences, the 1 in soil equals just one of the tops on the hydro plant. I'm guessing the 1 in dwc will yield 4-500% of the soil.

Why would anyone do soil indoors, or
What does it take to match the performance/results of dwc, using soil?
