mindmelted, I am looking for a new nute approach and have heard of Humbolt. Which of their products do you plan to use? I often wonder if nutes haven't been made over complicated for marketing purposes and would like to find something simple without being left to feel like I'm depriving my plants of the extras.

onthedl0008, I appreciate the help. I'm sort of obliged to do this grow by the book with the bubbleponics, but the first time the pump and tubes give me trouble I'm yankin' them. Next grow I'm going to do it your way!

I will be using master A&B
With the following additives,
Prozyme,Ginormous, sea cal,sea mag, and humboldt roots.
You could try OneNess and then use Fox Farms TRI-pack of additives.

onthedl0008 and all, I don't want to be hijacking this thread, but I can't seem to send you a pm (if there's a way let me know). I've started up this bubbleponics, like I said I promised to try it by the book for one grow. But to be honest, I'm very skeptical about the water pump and feeder tubes doing their job, and it would be hard and probably unwise to go digging down in the netpots to try to see. So I'm seriously considering unpromising and yanking them. The seeds are well germinated and seated in rockwool cubes (all I have now). I have a 12in and 3 10in airstones running.

So my question is this: if I yank the pump and tubes, should I water from the top or bring the water level up to where the bottom of the netpots are in it? Or both? I have about an inch of rocks on the bottom then the cube then topped off with rocks. And another thing, when you do dwc as you describe, it almost seems like it would be easier to start plants outside the res until they have roots then move them over. Obviously there must be some flaw in that logic but I don't see it. Thanks and if there is a more appropriate place for Qs like this point me to it!

Illegal,

Im just a beginner in DWC, but what has worked really well for me is to start off in my Aerogarden until roots have developed about 6" long, then I transplant in to the 5 gallon buckets with net pots and hydroton, and my roots are in the water from day 1 in the DWC bucket.

Do you have a non-soil alternative for the first couple weeks to develop some roots? Cleaning all the soil off sucks ass!

By the way hows the RO working out? Have you added a second storage tank yet to accomodate the need for 5 gallons at a time?

I'm kicking myself for having given my aerogarden away. I was thinking just some sort of seedling tray setup, I only want to grow maybe 4 plants at a time.

Oh yes, my RO. Here's the story on that. I ordered it from stealth hydro and after 2 weeks I didn't even have a tracking number and couldn't get a callback. I complained to the owner who said he would send me a unit he had there. He did but when my plumber guy out it in, it was missing parts (it had been repacked). I still haven't heard from stealth, they just flipped me off. So I called the company that made it, aquafx.com, and they were great. They are sending me everything I need no charge. I think it will work great and to answer your question, I have two 5 gal bottles I used to lug ro water from the supermarket with. I plan to keep those full. Plus my wife drinks ro water so it should pay for itself pretty quickly. So much for stealth hydro.

Adding a second stoarge tank to the system is waaaaayyy more convenient. You are going to find your wife is going to get pissed at you for draining the RO tank to fill the DWC. The RO stores only 2 gallons and takes about 2 hours to refill. So you are going to find yourself constantly trying to fill your bottles to when the tank refills. A second tank will get you to 4 gallons so you can fill your bucket in one shot. You just need a John Guest Splitter(thats the name brand of the tubing it uses) , 1/4" or 3/8", probably 3/8", and a little tubing. You should be able to do it yourself, just remember to shut off the valve on the tank and at the water supply.

Good idea, thanks! Among the things I didn't get from stealth hydro were an installation manual and a user's manual that probably would have discussed this stuff.

Thats pretty sweet trouble! Just make sure your float doesnt fail...you'll have quite a surprise if you come home to a flood. Also hopefully you keep a lid on the reservoir. If not you gotta be getting algae and floaties.

Well I got some babies sitting in the cloner right now, and waiting to see how they look to make some mothers out of them! I have my fingers crossed and praying that they show me some root's! I do have some that I started in jiffy pot's that gave me some root's but I put them into some soil for now and waiting on the prime ones in the cloner's to go into my DWC!

Awesome trouble.. Guess i cant keep it a secret much longer man.
I just started some more 12/12 clones and this time everything is perfect. U would be amazed at the rate of growth in only 7 days in the tub.
Dont want to jinx anything yet.
Thanks for checking in.

That is awesome.... I am excited to get mine running again, this time I know what I did wrong in the past and hopefully not make any mistakes!
