DWC Bubbler Grow (4 plants)

Wow brother, still mightily impressed. I was going to do a ScrOG but I messed that up when I found balls on 7 out of 8 of my plants and I think doin' it with one would be almost pointless.

But anyway, enough about me, congrats on a beauty of a grow to you!

Thanks G-Dub! Wow, 7 - 8 males, I've got to say I hope I get better odds than that. I can certainly say I feel for you though. A long time ago, I found a little hidden creek about 10 miles from my house one Spring. I pitched a couple of seeds there one early Spring day and a couple of sprouts popped up. I proceeded to visit them 3 -4 times a week and took great care of them and feed them accordingly. Long story short, these babies grew to be almost 9 feet tall each. Right before the days got to be less than 12 hours long, I had to go out of town for a month. When I got back, I was so excited to go check on them and see how they were budding. I cruised up there and spotted them from quite a ways a way as they had grown to nearly 12 feet tall and they were completely filled in!! I ran down to the creekside and when I got close enough, I realized they were both F'ing males!!! I was so pissed!! I decided to just leave them there and I guess someone found them cause they weren't there when I went for a bike ride a little while later. Guess they had some fun smoking male leaves....I'll take a pass on that....

Haha Wow, sorry for that man. At least you know how I feel about all this hehe but it's fine, I learned my lesson and will work that much harder on the next grow to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Maybe I missed it, but what kind of airstones are you using? I am also doin a DWC and just started veggin 7 clones that rooted after 2 weeks in a DWC cloning setup that I put together a few weeks back, worked better than the aeroponic one I had setup ...so far so good

Just came across this journal.. love it.. hopefully you'll get some nice fems from those plants, they look beautiful.. it'd be a shame for even one of them to be a male.. i'm gunna pay close attention to this grow, i plan on doing the same thing in a few weeks (DWC/scrog)..

best of luck, keep those updates comin :peace:

Thanks for droppin by Chromer!... The next update probably won't be til this weekend unfortunately, but hopefully by then I'll be able to report the sexes of each plant. Hope to hear back from you along the way...

Day 35 (Day 9 of flowering)

Good News!! 3 of 4 plants are female!! :hump: The only bummer is that my only Hashberry is the male . But hey, I'm not complaining. That means I have 3 wonderful female Satoris, so I'm pretty stoked!

I took some pics so you could see the density of the grow box before the HB meets its demise tomorrow. This will really allow me to spread the 3 Satoris out and allow each branch to get more light. You'll also see a pic of the HB male pollen sacs forming as well as some of the white pistils on one of the Satoris.

p.s. - thanks to whoever gave me a 5.0 rating on this thread!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Well, that's it, so much for the male HB. Adios amigo! I'm now starting to realize that I should have switched to flower 4-5 days, maybe even a week, before I actually did. The box has filled in and got so dense, so quickly, that it's become detrimental to the light penetration. Now that the male is gone, I've been able to spread the other 3 plants out a bit more. I'm hoping this will allow the light necessary for most, if not all, of the branches to get the light they need. I really think the mylar has been a big boost to light penetration and will always plan to use it in the future.

One challenge I'll be keeping an eye on is the root ball of the remaining plant in the left bin. It's roots had heavily interwoven with the former male's roots and it was impossible to untangle them. Actually, I couldn't even begin to get them separated, so I cut down the point I felt was the middle distance between the two. There are no doubt remaining roots from the male which are now dead and will begin to decay. I will be checking again tomorrow and removing as much remaining dead roots as I can, as well as changing out the reservoir, adding fresh nutes, and especially hydroguard to prevent root rot.

I think for my next grow, I will purchase feminized seeds and only grow one plant in each bin. This way I will be able to avoid the root entanglement problem and I'll be able to spread the branches better.

I think there is some liquid you can add to the tank for that root issue. It will decompose the dead roots and the plant will be able to use it as food... I don't know the name of it, but i was high and readin... just to give you a heads up. Lookin great!

Do you water your plants/hydrotron at any stage? Thanks

Once the roots grew out of the net pot and reached the water level in the reservoir, there has been no need to water from above (hydroton). The only exception is that I've been foliar feeding/spraying once a week and spraying with pure R/O water every half week in between. Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, wish I had some right now. Anyone, please let me know if you know the name of this product. Thanks

Yes, they were started from seeds. I used a very low mixture of botanicare's Pro Grow and Liquid Karma during the first week. I use R/O water always.

just stumbled on this grow, looks real nice pretty interested in scrog myself might look to you for some tips. But early on yall were talking about raising the level of a dwc system so that the pots get wet before root development and i've got a handy hint our local grow shop owner recommended to me. I'm using 5 gal buckets but same exact idea assuming you are using netpots, and rockwool.
Anyways, if you get a sheet of felt and cut it lengthwise (11'') you can put it through the bottoms of the net pots hanging down, then put the rockwool on top of that. As long as the felt is touching the water it acts as a wick and sucks the water up to the rockwool keeping it moist enough for beginning root development. The roots grow through as always and you can just leave the felt, it won't hurt. I hope this description helps, i can get pictures in the next week i'm just away from the babies right now:cry:

Thanks Closet. That sounds like a very good idea. I'll have to remember that for the next go round.

Day 42 (16th day of Flowering)

Plants have moved out of pre-flower and into early flowering. Satori 3 (rear right) is definitely the strongest, most dominant plant of the bunch. I've had to tie over most of its stalks (into the area formerly occupied by the Hashberry male) and they are still taller than the other two. It appears as though it will produce the best as it's stalks are also forming flowering sites up and down. I'm still getting vertical growth and the HPS is as high as it can possibly go. Again, I wish I'd started to flower about a week earlier. As you'll see, I've added four 23 watt CFLs as supplemental lighting. The canopy is just so dense and the CFLs are helping with lower level light penetration. I've also included a pic of my homemade CO2 box. It ducted into the grow box with a small computer case fan and has three 1 gallon jugs with sugar/yeast action and balloons with pinholes. The CO2 box is vented so fresh air is drawn in near the top of the box and it passes the jugs on the way to the duct line at the bottom of the box. You can smell the yeast mixture from within the grow box, so I'm guessing it's working quite well. The jugs have each been mixed 2 days apart so when one is dying down, the is a fresh one that has just been rejuvenated. Enjoy!

The product you're looking for is called Hygrozyme. It's manufactured by Canna. Your local hydro supply should have it in stock.
BTW- Very good thread:blsmoke:
