DWC and Aero First time

I started 2 5g DWC buckets with 2 clones that had started to root in a plug. its been about a week and roots are just starting to come out of the side of the net cup? there has not been much growth. is this because i need a larger root system before i see growth in hydro? theres a nice mass of roots coming out of the bottom of the plug it just hasnt come out of the net cup yet. the water level is right at the bottom of the net cup so its just touching it using hydroton. ppm is at 300 150 from the tap 150 with nutes. ph is 5.8. i expected faster growth but i didnt know if i had to wait for alot of roots to go down into the bucket or if it shoudl already be growing. i have some new leaf growth its just going very slow. i did 1 res change and im getting aquashield in the mail for some bene bacteria.

also i started a big tupperware container like a 30 something gallon and i cut out holes for 5 3 inch net pots. i have 5 autos in there and i build a misting system that comes on for 1 minute then off 30. they have been in there about 6 days and its also slow so far and the roots are just starting to come out of the sides and maybe out the bottom by now i havent checked today. will growth start to pick up soon or am i doing something wrong all together. ppm 300 ph 5.8 hydroton. they are under 600w MH lights.

tldr version is.. in hydro do you have to wait for a decent size root system to come out of your cup before you see growth?

Yes - growth will take off when the roots leave the net cup. It can be relatively slow until then.

In my experience, this will happen faster (for recently placed plants w/ an already existing root mass) if the plant finds the need by keeping the medium drier by lowering the water level so that the bottom is only barely kept moist. It seems to take forever if you leave the water level high.

Depends. If she looks healthy enough for transplant - do it. Maybe feed with some superthrive to help with the shock. Trust your eyes, brother. Anticipate your girl's needs, and try not to over do stuff.

You'll see growth rate increase after the root system is well established. Just be patient bro sounds like you are doing everything right
