Just pot lift until I got used to it. My organic dry amendment plants get almost a gallon a day in 5 gallon fabric pots once they have decent roots and bio mass up top with no run off. I water them all every day as I don't use mulch and the top layer dries out too quickly. 3 gallon pots get about 90 ounces give or take daily depending on the stage they're in. Keeping them constantly moist keeps the little critters in the soil happy or so I'm told. I haven't seen any issues with over watering or root problems doing it this way for the 3 full runs I've made in organics but that doesn't mean it won't happen. It took me a bit to get used to keeping the soil so moist but it seems to work with this style. I do need to get some kind of mulch though.
I get it, he doesn’t. Weight of the pot is better than a finger test IMO.

Water appropriately for the size - with that amount of medium you want to ensure it is hydrated as medium will become hydrophobic.
When that happens - watering just shoots thru without real saturation.

Also that amount of FFOF ALONE will feed it. Plant May get a little burned up front as it acclimates to it ( droop and tips ) but will come around as it feeds and exhausts it. Add nothing else to it - no stupid boosters or other shit or you will torch that plant.

FFOF IS NUTE DENSE right from bag and can run on simple tap water ( already buffered ).

If it becomes hydrophobic I add yucca.

In my defense I did say to water pots edge until runoff then also apply water to roots base. In essence filling the pot difference is the soil around plants base will dry sooner leaving water at pots edges and bottom giving the roots something to grow into. Filling the pot with roots faster than just watering the roots. Once you have a established root system in pot then you wont be stunting root growth by watering the roots and can fill the pot entirely. In no correlation to how I suggested op water a couple times speaking in general to small plants in big pots. The way you're speaking you fill a 5 gallon with a seedling. I suggested Basically the same thing just didn't phrase it as you like lol

Make sure you lift the pot to see if it's time for more water. Might need to call a friend or two for help though.

Of course it takes common sense too, :wall:.

Why would I bother trying to lift 15 gal pots constantly? Ya, that's a great idea, :dunce:
Im guessing if I was using 15 gallon pots I'd find a different way. I just said what works for me. I struggled with 5 gallons. Once you get some experience you can judge fairly well by how the plant is looking, the temps you've been running and of course common sense which is often lacking.

Sarcastic and stupid, great mix. Be sure to stick your finger in to tell when to water them.

If you’re competent enough to grow something like that then you already know how to water.
You know where you can stick your finger!

Edit: Oh I see bk is here. I guess you can stick your finger back up his butt instead.

Right tit for tat with them 2. Have yet since I've been here on this form seen either of them give op's valid information. Just trolling here and there to get a rise outta folks hoping they cross the guidelines so they can snitch. Cant remember which one, one of them actually took a screen shot of me calling them offensive names. Funny part was I immediately edited took like 5 seconds what I said was already screenshot.
