Hey guys i am new to DWC and i set up my own bucket, anyway i have a drip ring on the top and the air pump/stones in bottom. My question may seem lame but...is the dripp is only on 4 spots on outer edges....does it actually reach the middle of hydroton? Are the nutes/water gonna actually reach till roots grow thru pot?

How long have you been running it? I use 6" net pots and my hydroton is fully saturated by the following day on brand new transplants. Mine uses approx5" rings so Im pretty close to the outer edge of the diameter of the net pot. Can you cut off about 2-3" of the tubing and reattach it to the barbed fitting to make the diameter of the ring a bit smaller (whole drip ring should fit inside the diameter of the net pot). Also, it doesnt have to drip directly on the middle portion to saturate it. If the roots arent directly in the most wet area of the hydroton....they will search and find the right area to be in.

Here is how I have mine set up. I only have 4 holes drilled in the bottom side of the drip ring as well. I want to say this was taken the day after transplant with only the initial top watering right after the transplant.

Keep your air pumps in mind when it comes to res temps. If you have 1 large commercial grade pump with say 12 outlet manifold vs a 6 smaller dual diaphram pumps, your likely creating or adding to the res temp issue. A large pump running bubbler stones and supply to the drippers etc. gets hot and blows straight hot air into your res system. With a few smaller pumps, they will run much cooler if even warm at all. This could reduce your res temps by a few degrees even which is tremendous if your teetering on the limits of being too high....Oh ya -Welcome to RIU!
